More to the Sturridge riddle than meets the eye?

I came across a few posts which really caught my eye in the "assassination of Daniel Sturridge" thread. Now these posts were largely ignored by the majority who continued to spout bile and venom in the direction of a player who is still on our Club's books.

A player who is widely recognised as the most talented player to ever come through the ranks of our illustrious academy.

Now there are parts of these posts which are similar to minor whispers I have heard, and I would like to gauge the general consensus of our genuine "ITKs" on this subject, as I am certainly not one.

I hope some more light can be shed on this long and drawn out saga, as I'll be damned if I'm going to form an accurate and balanced opinion on a 19 year old first team blue from reading the likes of The Daily (f-ing) Mail.

Having trawled through this thread it seems most still dont get it.

You talk about how greedy Danny is wanting 50k/60k a week...............never asked for, ever!

The contract talked about with Sven before he left was for the same as other accademy graduates, hughes came in and after many delays offered a minor increase on his existing contract, this followed a chinese wisper campain that he wasn`t sure Danny would make it.

Danny turned it down and the fariy stories hit the press from a sorce inside the club, Hughes never once denighed them or put the record straight on what he knew was blatantly untrue.........despite his long time conections at the MuEN, wonder why?

By the final offer it was never about money, so rather than blaming the kid, wish him well as I do, an when he runs out as a full international, perhaps think of what might have been had we had a compertant manager

And;

Of course there is always the option of seeing what parts of this story make any sense.

1) He is leaving for money................Just who is the richest club, and would therefore pay the most in the future should he be as good as he and others think he is ?

2) The final offer is about £35k a week...............This is the basic plus bonuses that he was willing to sign for at the start of the season, and the same as the other graduates receive, the same as discussed with Sven, and all he ever asked for................So its no longer about the money is it?

3) If as Hughes said, he wanted to keep the player, why at no point did he rubbish the stories of 60k a week, knowing they were lies?.....................or any of the other stories about players he has had a fall out with.

4) Ask yourself why a young player would leave the club where its all going to happen in the near future, or what would make you do so if you were him............Money?, thats covered in #1., or maybe the source of the posion thats turned supporters against him and others may be a factor.

It will come out one day.

It will be interesting to see where he turns up.

Chelsea might not tell us a lot, but there is no way Villa or Blackburn would pay him what he is rumoured to want from us.

And if that is the case, why have these rumours been allowed into the public domain without a bit of protection of the player?

I still can't comprehend why Sturridge himself or a representative hasn't spoken publically about this nonsense, unless of course all the rumours are true - which personally I doubt.

But anyone can type that aswell, how ever you view the situation you can make correct points, it seems its the hughes in people getting on Sturridges back and hughes out are backing Sturridge i.e its hughes fault that sturridges has not signed, or its Sturridge being a greedy twat. Personally if he wanted to stay he would have signed!!

But multiple threads on the same subject are ok.

Personally. I like Sturridge.

But with his injury record as it is at his age, I really think that it is unwise to offer a large contract.

It is a funny one this. I have watched his demeanour on the pitch and he does seem to be for want of a better phrase a cocky twat. I first said this when I watched us play in Barnsley last July so it isn't something I have started saying ever since this contract saga came to light. I don't know the ins and outs of the contract negotiations, I don't think anybody outside the club does. I do suspect however that he is yet another one who believes he is better than he is and is probably asking for far too much.

I do think he will be leaving this summer and I for one will not be losing any sleep over it.

My only concern is that if he is presented to the fans as the young player of the year and then subsequently gets a round of boos, that would be terrible. We should just let him and us move on without any acrimony, my fear however is that this won,t be the case.

None of us really know anything. Hughes doesn't rate him? Well he started him in a UEFA Cup quarter final, a game away in front a huge crowd in Schalke, among other matches. If you don't rate someone, why start them in important games like that? I remember Sturridge saying after the Blackburn game he wanted to stay at the club. Ego possibly inflated since then? Who knows.

I didn't think this was an Ireland thread.

This translates as "if you don't agree with me, you're a childish abusive tosser"

Excuse me, but I am certainly not a Hughes lover, but cannot stand Sturridge or his parasitic family.

I certainly wouldn't say he is the best that has come out of our Academy. Far too early to judge him against full internationals or players with 250 appearances under their belts.

However, when you consider his injury record, his ego, his family, and his standing amongst the coaches at all levels at City, then no tears will be shed when he empties his locker

As I said in an earlier thread, its funny how Chelsea are supposedly in the running when they dont actually have a manager for next season.

Good luck and good riddance. Lets see if he appears on the parade lap on Sunday !
