He’s nothing like Palmer. He’s a physical player that can play a variety of roles - likely to be the number #8 for us. He’s better technically than Nunes and has put up great numbers this season and been a starring player for Forest. Say we get £40m for Nunes - it’s only another £30m or so.
 
I'm not arguing for or against MGW but I think we need to note that the midfield role is moving on from the 'magic no.10' player for good or ill. Midfields now tend to be dominated by players with stamina, energy and tenacity as well as skills. Think L'pool, Arse, Newcastle, Villa here and both Madrids, Barca, PSG, Inter in Europe. Currently the 'magic' players tend to play in the front 3 positions. No one will replace a KDB or a David Silva in midfield. Clubs need to buy or develop midfield players who can pass and press, compete for 90 mins, play every 3 days and stay fit. Maybe in a few years that will change again (I hope it does) but it's where top class football is now.

He’s probably the home grown Guimaraes alternative.

He plays in the 10 for forest quite a bit doesn’t it? He’s a creative/ attacking midfielder. So I think it’s fair to compare.

I just don’t see it. Nunes doesn’t even start, so I don’t get that comparison.

You say great numbers but how many goals/assists.

Let's compare him to someone nobody would want us to buy. Someone like Iwobi or Maddison let's say

Forest don’t really have a number 10 role in their set up.

They have 2 6s and an 8 in a low block and counter quickly using pacy wingers to counter attack to either shoot or set up Wood.

MGW is their 8 who gets forward quickest of their midfield 3.
 
Just ask yourself if Gibbs White, would start for the elite European teams. If he doesn’t we shouldn’t be no where near him. Wirtz starts for everyone in Europe. Camavinga another who would. Need to stop shopping for mediocre English players and start signing the elite young players.

If he played for Inter and he was as good for them as he is forest then no one would complain because Inter face similar set ups to us. We don’t know if gibbs white can actually play against 11 men behind the ball effectively.
 
the only player we should be after from forest is Aina, who is homegrown so that nulifies the buy MGW for that reason bollocks.

Yet we've the likes of Doku on the team who if anyone saw him playing for another Premier League team nobody would be wanting him.

At least this lad is doing something in the league

Nunes would be the player he would replace in the squad. Nunes was signed to play as an 8 after we missed out on Paqueta and Bellingham.

His underlying data is very strong. 12 goals and assists isn’t too bad either - but he does far more for the team than that.
