Doku Savio, Nico, Reiss, Khus,Echeverri are all very young, personally I think they may well show up to be excellent. Marmoush is hardly old.
Rodriguez, Mahrez, Bernardo, Sterling,Gundo all took quite a while to settle and they had a more settled team to adjust to.
We haven't been great this season and a little lack of planning around midfield has probably aggravated this but there is no reason to be pessimistic about our general record on player recruitment.

Clearly our scouts, Pep, Viana, and analytics people don't feel he is an average player. Time will tell if they are right.

Haaland was hardly an unknown quantity. As for Gvardiol he's now playing in the position he was signed for and many stating he was not a full back .Agree with you on the rest.

Do you think Silva,Toure, DeBruyne, Gundogan,Bernardo,Mahrez, Laporte, Rodri Dias, Sterling,Sane Walker etc, etc were unknowns?

I didn't mention any of those players - you did. Rodri was relatively unknown, yes. Dias was relatively unknown (and at the time our 4th or 5th choice). Sanè wasn't a household name either.

Apparently, City had a bid rejected yesterday—reportedly in the region of €45-50 million. Milan, however, are holding out for more, and from the noise around the situation, it seems they're open to letting him go for a higher fee, likely around €65 million.


There’s talk of a gentleman’s agreement between Milan and Reijnders: if they fail to secure a Champions League spot, they won’t stand in his way. Reijnders, for his part, is said to be keen on the move to City. But he also wants to handle the situation with respect—he’s not looking to force a transfer, especially not at €45 million. He’s willing to wait, but it’s clear the interest is mutual.

I didn't mention any of those players - you did. Rodri was relatively unknown, yes. Dias was relatively unknown (and at the time our 4th or 5th choice). Sanè wasn't a household name either.

And I didn't mention unearthing talent it was the poster I was replying to.
My point was a general one on recruitment. Virtually all our recent signings have been less well known than Rodri and Dias both of whom had played Champions league football, International football and played for prominent teams.
Sane was capped for Germany and generally reckoned to be about the hottest young talent in the Bundesleague.
We have generally signed very good players, we have made the odd mistakes.
Personally I have no very strong opinion on MGW either way but it's nonsense to suggest we don't have a decent record on signings, though I suspect that the market is a bit more competitive than it was when we were recruiting in greater numbers.

He's been superb for Forest this season and every time I've seen them play - obviously not loads - you can see that he's got a great engine on him, can tackle and move the ball about. He's got a decent pass on him and just seems to have a bit of energy and needle about him. He's in a team where they don't have much of the ball and whenever they have it, he is the one to create things.

The club can obviously see something in him and he's clearly a decent player. Is he worth £70m? I'm not sure but that's the price Forest want and if Pep thinks he can work with him then he will become a very good player.

I know a lot of people slate the players from West Ham, Forest, Palace, Wolves and say they aren't good enough but some players are just on the way up via these clubs. If you put a team together which had Eze, Wharton, MGW, Mateta, Cunha, Murillo, Aina, Hudson-Odoi, Munoz, Bowen and Kudus etc it would be a pretty decent team. The trick is to buy the players who are hungry and want success and you can bet anything these players would jump at the chance to play at City.

I think he would be a good signing, I'm not paying the money so I don't care about it but he would improve our midfield as it stands.
