Morgan Gibbs-White

I think he is talented enough as an 8 in our side, I just don't know if he is technically good enough to be a 10 in this side.

If we bring in a proper 10 and keep him as an 8, I like the move
Yeah, that's what I was thinking. More of a replacement for Gundogan than KDB. We're a team that's aiming to be challenging for the Champions League again. The number 10 in a Pep team really has to be one of the best creative/technical players in the world with world class vision and passing. I don't see us building a team around MGW's passing range like we did with KDB and before him David Silva. If anyone, it'll be Phil Foden, but that will rely on him getting back up to speed for next season.

The other key question is his press resistance. I can't say I've watched him too much, but how is he at having the ball fired into him while holding off a defender? That's was Kalvin Phillips' main weakness for us. He couldn't be trusted to keep the ball. If he can't do that, he'll just end up being shifted out wide like all of the other players who aren't quite up to playing in the centre, and we already have shitloads of players out there.

100% we need world class in the middle it’s where games are won and lost

Agree with almost everything you said, the only part I disagree is that I think Phil is also a different profile from Kevin. Phil is a better dribbler and can play on the wings, and the speed is more of a goal threat than a creator like Kevin was. I think Phil needs someone who can create and score to help the game open up for him as well.

We might need some Association Trained players for the CL - two occupying free list spots over the 4 limit at the moment (Ake, Stones, Grealish, Carson, Walker & Phillips) but don't think many of them will still be here next season.
I'd like to see us get the Palace lad.

Foden was never faster than prime KDB and also hasn’t dribbled for like 2 years

I watched the Forest game yesterday and realised what I thought about MGW was true. A good player in a mid table team.

I thought he was poor against Chelsea, worst I've seen him recently.

Have been impressed in some games, but the Chelsea game highlighted how rushed everything he does is - he tries to do everything quickly, and (in this match) it resulted in so many poor touches and scuffed passes. Passes which could have put players in decent positions and they were mishit and bobbling. I've also realised his awesome left-foot volley (v Leicester?) was a bit of a fluke, because his left foot really is just for standing on. He always does everything he can to shift the ball to his right foot, or flick it with the outside of his right when a simple left-footed pass is on.

Clearly it could just have been a bad day, but we're talking a large fee for someone with limitations and who plays in a very different style. If we were desperate for HG players from Forest, I'd rather off £20m for Hudson-Odoi (different position, I know).

Decent hit with his left foot which almost broke our cross bar in the semi.

Cherki is a better creator than MGW, there is no debate tbh.

But MGW may win out because he is homegrown and can play more as an 8 with all his running and pressing.

But a Cherki and Marmoush behind a Haaland is a pretty scary trio of goals and assists.
