Moss Side

early fifties moss side, hulme, whalley range ,predominently blue, salford red , withington fallowfield rusholme mainly blue. Hulme, moss side ,a lot of salford got knocked down and the communities scattered , a lot of immigration changed the areas so i dont think there is a link to today regarding traditional strongholds, The hooliganism of the seventies broke the chain of fathers taking sons to matches which also had an effect,

Reading this you'd think we had no fans at all north of Tib St.
the op mentioned moss side in particular so the comment was about the area. Obviously we had lots of fans from north ,east and west manchester as well , as a kid i was amazed at all the different accents on the buses and at the ground.

Speaking of Moss Side, went past Maine Road today, couldn't help but get out and stand in Kippax Street next to the site perimeter fence. All came flooding back.
happened to me a few months ago m8
i was actually in tears lmao

Depends on your definition of 'fan'. If you mean match going supporter, as opposed to pub going replica wearing plastic rag, then the Blues usually win all over Manchester.

So Moss side was red and your new home Beswick is unquestionably red. Your definetley moving in the right direction (east) but your still about 5 miles shy of Glossop.

Levenshulme and Gorton are about the only enclaves around town for the red shite, Manchester is BLUE, always has been and always will be.

How about Rome? Do you know where that is? Evidently your players don't lol.

Why do you say this Bunk? I was born in Gorton and this isn't the case.
drove past"The Lord Nelson"Pub after the Bolton match, looked pretty red to us,didn"t stop for one! :)

Not sure about Moss Side, I'd say still quite a few regular City match going fans but overall numbers prob even or going Utd's way (inevitable for anyone under 30 etc and especially kids who know nothing other than Utd being the best team in the land).

I live in Fallowfield and again maybe we have more match goers but The Friendship is always more rammed when Utd are playing than if City are on - not exactly scientific evidence but just generally seem to be slightly more Utd around here than blues
