Most Gutted you've Been About a player leaving

SWP > Chelsea was pretty gut wrenching ... I remember I'd been to see City play Macc in a friendly and all the talk when I got there was that SWP had turned up but left again. By the time I got home it was breaking news on Sky that he'd gone.

It was different then though. Losing players when you don't know if you'll replace them hurts more than being the so called richest club in the world and knowing that whoever you sell, will be replaced by someone better in the long term.

Don't think there'll be a player of the ADUG era who's leaving would make me feel like SWP's leaving did.

Peter Barnes for me - broke my heart as 7 year old - my mum had to unpick his name she'd sown into my scarf!

Zaba would be the only current player that I'd be gutted about "if" he ever went

Richard Dunne, I am still gutted that he couldn't be here when we won the league and the cups. Would love him back.

Nigel De Jong, we miss him in the squad.

Nedum Onuoha, came through our Academy and should have shared our success. But at least he was there the day we won the league!!

Martin Petrov, he could have been such an asset to our team.

In the also rans, i.e. the ones I was upset about but could live with it:

Shaun Wright Phillips, although I blame Ian Wright for him going.

Elano, Shay Given, Stephen Ireland, Craig Bellamy.

I was very upset when Niall Quinn went and still have a soft spot for him but from his alleged commentary statements about us maybe I shouldn't be!!

SWP to Chelsea. At the time he was Mr Manchester City and everyone loved him.

Disappointed rather than gutted when Robinho and Elano went. I felt we could have got more out of them. Ireland too but hindsight suggests it was a good piece of business.

peter Barnes to leeds

and not quite a departure but the non arrival of van Buyten

Keegan finally finds a good un but has spent all the money on shite in the meantime

Bishop to West Ham and Michael Hughes to Strasbourg
That was another one I was gutted at, (Hughes). Forgot about that. Thought he was going to be our Giggs when he came onto the scene.
A story went around at the time that Strasbourg fans got a bit overly excited when they heard they were signing M.Hughes from Manchester.

SWP - but at least we got a good price from Chelsea.
Mario - I think the club and the fans have lost a real character in a game sadly lacking them. OK he had his problems on and off the pitch but I am genuinely sad to see him go.
