The most iconic name in football has to be Pele, no matter what generation or where in the World you are everyone has heard of Pele ![/quote

Edson Arantes do Nascimento is the most iconic/greatest player, and he was part of the most iconic/greatest team ever - Brazil 1970.

Real Madrid of di Stefano and Puskas would have peed on 'em. Can't decide who is my most iconic football - Di Stefano or Puskas.
It's a shame that Pele is so well respected it has become in fashion to downplay just how great he was. The guy was the perfect player and the ultimate big game footballer.

Zinedine Zidane.

How many iconic images of him are there? His headed goal to make it France 3-0 Brazil, that CL final goal, Head butting Matterazzi, walking past the World Cup. There are probably many more I haven't mentioned.
I always thought the 3rd goal was petit after being played through around the 80 minute mark but hey ho

If you asked a thousand people to name any footballer then I reckon Beckham would get more votes than anyone else, sadly!

-- Fri Nov 01, 2013 8:19 pm --

If you asked a thousand people to name any footballer then I reckon Beckham would get more votes than anyone else, sadly!
