Diego Armando for me. Even if he is barking.

Did you know at 17, he nearly signed for Sheffield united for £600k.....the blades pulled out at the last minute.....imagine that?.....maradona playing for Sheffield united.
We could of had him, swales wouldn't give Allison the money.

If you asked an American or a Chinese man who didn't know a thing about football but you asked them who David Beckham and Pele were, they would tell you they were footballers 9 times out of 10.

Thing is, If beckham played in the same era's, he wouldn't be close to being an iconic footballer.
The true greats were known world wide whilst Beckham is only known worldwide due to "brand beckham and his pr team". with no web, social media and him failing on the big occasions with England, no one would have paid any interest in him back in the eras of Maradona, Pele, Moore etc

Maradona. Whether that's because he was the most famous player when I was young or simply because.... Maradona!

icon? more like bell end. a cheat, a druggie and a fucking disgrace to the game.
Yes,but he his the greatest footballer ever.

I was at that game where the first picture was taken. Foxborough Stadium 1994 WC - Argentina vs Greece. His last game for Argentina before being caught. Yes he was a cheat but undeniably one of the very best, if not the best ever and most definitely the most iconic.

An Icon of Football, in the modern day it's the Man that worked the hardest to get it, Beckham, in the real world, Pele.
