Had similar in a Morris Minor ( 1380 cc ) but with Twin 45 Dellotos, which I changed back to twin 1 1/2" SUs, likewise topped out at just over 80 mph

Twin 45"s on an engine that size, might as well have had 2 buckets chucking fuel in :D

That's one reason I swapped for SUs plus the 45s were pig to balance

Dearie me, how did you stop it?? For a while I had a 105E Anglia that someone had put a 1300 Escort engine in but it had the original drum brakes. Best cure for constipation when you need to stop quickly.....

2 different Maxis ? Or one cut and shut Maxi ,I believe they where very common in the 70 s

First Car? You lucky bastard. Mine was an Avenger 1250 that I towed home from an auction in Rochdale. Turned out to be a great car - at the time my Dad had a MK2 Cortina 1600GT estate which I think turned out to be very rare - typically he sold it cheap lol
