Most underrated City player ever?

Fernando Reges and Javi Garcia.

Convinced the issue was Pellegrini’s lazy arse management and not them. Both were fine passers of the ball. Fernando has gone on to have a good career too.

Gordon Smith.
Blues could only think about "...and Smith must score..." v the rags in the last minute of the FA Cup, when he didn't score, so had a downer on him.
Yet he was very stylish and cultured and was top scorer from midfield in the 84 / 85 promotion season
If he hadn't been injured from March onwards we would have gone up as champions.
You can also add Dave Phillips as being underrated.

I always thought Gaudino was a fantastic player ,played balls into space it was obvious to go into ,but our other players didn’t see!
James Milner ,very under rated
Gaudino was one of those players where his career didn't match the level of talent he possessed. I assume were it not for his troubles with the German police we wouldn't have seen him in a City shirt but he was a cut above much of the team at the time. Am speculating but I imagine with better choices and more application he could have been a much bigger player.

Distin for me. Better than he was appreciated on some dreadful teams. Very solid post-City career.

Also Clichy as several have said. Clichy had some very good years but never in succession. Hard to believe he actually played for Pep as it is starting to seem so long ago that some of those players were here.

I think Clichy, Sagna and Kolarov (at CB) started Pep's first game. Amazing.
