Most underrated player to play for city

I can still remember the picture in one of the tabloids the next morning ..of Reeves..actual jump for the header with a Liverpool defender challenging..there are no illegal/akward arms.....not a shadow of a doubt in my mind, even as a teenager not present at the game.... something was badly wrong with that decision.
Always thought Kevin Reeves was a damn good header of a ball for a forward who wasnt that tall really.
Think he scored the penalty at Wembley v spurs in that replay......
One of the 1st Million Pound footballers, back in the day...

Yes he Scored in The replay at Wembley, from The Spot
Right at our end @ £3 a ticket I've still got the stub

Always had a soft spot for Stan Horne, always gave his all and with a fair bit of skill as well.
Played at Rotherham when we won 1nil(Bell) " and we were back into Div1!!"..played a total of 15 games that season in the old second division..played another 29 games 1966-7 to help us finish 15th..but sadly for Stan, only managed 4 appearences the next season when we won the 1st division title.
Played his part in the electric blue transformation of City from 2nd div also rans to The best team in the country.rarely mentioned, definitely under rated. He was around the 1st team squad at the same time as Stan Bowles and Paul Hince..

Very true mate, and it was unforgivable, hope Edgy and his family are now living a happy life .
I remember going to Leeds away and winning 1nil ..Edghhill ,who had made his name as a right back..played left back and was absolutely outstanding that mid week night, playing on his weaker side....i can't help thinking that being played as a left full back wouldnt have helped him when his form suffered..i was there at Maine Road the day he took dogs abuse before being subbed off.A very sad day...and it was a long long walk off the pitch from the left back poistion in front of the North stand for our home grown ,City supporting player.sad day.

Were you at that game, my mates and I went by coach from Broadheath straight after work as it was a night match. Have fond memories of the driver stopping the coach on the moors on the way back so we could all have a pee.

It has to be Neil Young - always overshadowed by Lee, Bell & Summerbee. An elegant player, but one who scored iconic and crucial goals for us, namely:

Cup winning cracker v Peter Shilton 1969
Opening goal in Cup Winners Cup final win 1970
And - two goals in great 4-3 win at Newcastle 1968.

How vital were they in City's history? A fine player, not well treated by the club, and plenty worse than him have played for England. And a local Moss Side lad to boot. What a shot he had in that left foot.

From recent times, one of the most underrated for me is Gareth Barry. I honestly don't understand how some people didn't rate him. He wasn't perfect, wasn't the most nimble of players, but his positional sense was second to none, which gave him that advantage over those with more pace. Got caught out against the top bracket players, but who didn't? One of my favourites since the takeover. I'd take him over De Jong every time.

Also, a shout out to Bacary Sagna. Sadly we got him at the tail end of his career, when he had slowed down, but he was still in fantastic condition and very solid defensively.

Bang on the money with GazBaz......whenever his name was on the team sheet it used to settle my nerves.

Great passer, brilliant football brain, composed and big unit to boot and experienced. In fact our team under Mancini was littered with big lads.

Kolarov, Kompany, Lescott, Yaya, Dzeko etc...

Good shout got a good couple of seasons out of him.

I was at the game and had a brilliant view from where I was in the Kippax, at the time everyone thought it was a perfectly good goal, but just assumed we'd missed something glaringly obvious, we didn't, it was just a bent decision, one of many during that semi-final tie.

Tevez for me. I know most consider him a very good player but I think the row he had with Mancini, and subsequent holiday have made some forget how quality he was for us.

There were matches I felt like he just put the team on his back and was like "Nah, fuck this. We aren't losing today."

Whatever other issues he may have had at times, he always seemed to give 100% when he played and left everything he had on the pitch. Not to mention him getting inside Joey Barton's head in the 93:20, which helped lead to our comeback.
