If the owner hadn't extended Mancini's contract his position would have been untenable.

Because it reinforced some of my opinions of Mancini and what type of character and person he is. Simply put, he doesn't see the enormous favour our owners did his career by giving him a job when previously he was eyeing up the likes of Sunderland. He seems himself as bigger than us somehow and therefore in a position to do and say what he wants when he wants.
Correct. He had to sack him or keep him. And he wasn't going to sack him having just won the league in any situation. So he got his new deal and we retained him; but I'm absolutely sure both parties would have agreed strict targets for the development of the club. I cannot remember where I heard it but I'm absolutely sure that Mancini himself said that he felt 9 trophies in 4 years, or maybe 5, was achieveable. Can anyone remember that?hgblue said:Ray78 said:The reason why Sheikh Mansour did extend Mancini's contract could be a Thank You for the Trophies he had given us.

Or I'm too cruel and corporative for football fan.

Any manager going into the last year of their contact without a new deal is hugely weakened, and in a club with big name players that's even more applicable. It doesn't take sheikh mansour to tell anyone that, just anyone with a modicum of knowledge of the game.Lavinda Past said:hgblue said:Ray78 said:The reason why Sheikh Mansour did extend Mancini's contract could be a Thank You for the Trophies he had given us.

I don't see how you reach that conclusion.... Unless you are Sheik Mansour....
I suspect you're not Sheik Mansour.
Mancini = Champion, and will be again this season.
Best manager we've ever had imo

Didnt have to extend his contract by 5 years and rewarding him as handsomely for what he has given us ;0
Think Mourinjo only got a 4 year extension, that should tell you everything we, you, I need to know
