They're shit, it doesn't matter who they get as manager.

They can no longer pay the most money in fees, they won't be able to get the dross off their wage bill and will have to subsidise wages if they sell.

They're going to be out of the CL next year, they can't drop the £400M they need because of FFP so will most likely be out of it the year after too and will lose sponsorship money.

Which will likely mean they can't increase their wage bill because of FFP.

It's lining up very nicely.

They need a miracle.

Yeah, I don't get the thinking behind it at all.
Sure, if a well-loved former blue was showing shitloads of ability and potential as a manager I'd love to give them a chance at City, ala Barca/Guardiola, but if there was a clearly better manager with no blue connection available I'd prefer to get them.
Hiring a mediocre manager just because they played for us? Fuck that.
