A serious question to Mr Brennan (and credit to him for coming on here). Are you saying then that all the City fans who have said that the MEN is biased towards the vermin are wrong then? Becuase if one person expresses that opinion, and is said to be wrong, then by definition all posters who said the same thing are wrong as well. Can they be all wrong?

Yes, of course they can be all wrong. They ARE all wrong
Six hundred years ago, just about everyone thought the earth was flat. Surely they weren't all wrong?
You are also ignoring the fact that there are plenty of City fans, on BM and beyond, who DON'T think there is a bias. Or don;t their views count?
Fair enough; if you're going to use that old comeback. What about those who do think there's a bias;

5. Again, a poster said the MEN had "ignored" Utd's IPO float story when it broke six weeks ago. So what is this?

Stuart, I like the MEN and I like you but the poster you are questioning said that the MEN had completely ignored the fact that the IPO now looks dead in the water due to volatility (as someone who works in this industry I can tell you that translates as "lack of interest").

Nothing in the MEN about this embarrassing development.

Keep up the good work on there and here though and ignore De Niro, he is a lovely man when he isn't wumming on here.

Without looking back, I thought the poster said we didn't report the IPO float when it was announced six weeks ago.
As for not reporting that it was dead, hoe about this:

<a class="postlink" href="http://menmedia.co.uk/manchestereveningnews/sport/football/manchester_united/s/1584416_must-demand-full-manchester-united-flotation" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://menmedia.co.uk/manchesterevening ... -flotation</a>

Entirely my fault for trusting bluemoon (on this thread) for moaning about the MEN not mentioning it.

But don't call me a hoe!

Stuart, any chance you could dig out your report of the final Maine Road derby? ....looked eveywhere for it but to no avail.

If memory serves me right it was just a bit one-eyed and blinkered....:)

You mean this one:

<a class="postlink" href="http://menmedia.co.uk/manchestereveningnews/sport/football/manchester_united/s/23889_derby_day_united_left_red_faced" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://menmedia.co.uk/manchesterevening ... _red_faced</a>

I must add that my brief was to write a piece from a United viewpoint - myself and Stuart Mathieson took a Red perspectie and Chris bailey and Paul Hince from a Blue viewpoint.

Thanks....different to the one in the paper (or you've edited it). I recall you saying something about the 'red three quarters' of the city not being happy as well as a few other digs!

Sent a complaint to The Pink and to be fair you replied in an email...

Their views don't count, because they are plain wrong. Remember, if there is a bias at the MEN, I would have to be the main purveyor of that bias. here isn't, and I don't.

It's like me expressing the opinion that you have a donkey porn sex dungeon in your cellar. You tell me, outright, that you haven't got one, and have never had one.

Can I then come back with "Ah, but that's your opinion. My opinion is that you have got one."?

*cough*

Seriously; fair point, even if I don't agree with it.

No, it's not an opinion - it is fact. I work at the MEN, and know how the sports desk functions, and it doesn't operate on any kind of bias.
You tell me one instance where I have made something up to back up what I have been saying.
The people having a go on here have not come up with ONE bit of evidence of this stuff - they have offered half truths and lies as evidence.
I'm sorry if me using the word "paranoid" offend you, but it is hard to come up with a more appropriate term for people who feel they are being criticised or persecuted, without any basis. Next post, how about offering us some actual evidence to back your argument?
And we fear the wrath of Fergie? You haven't read this thread, have you? Why did we print more criticism of the Glazers, Gill, United and Fergie over the takeover than any other media outlet in the world, thoroughly pissing off all of them? How does that fit with our agenda, exactly.
This is not an opinion, it is FACT, a concept you appear to be struggling to grasp.

Back in the day when both clubs would play Saturday at 3pm, after the match me and a mate on the 99 bus back to Sale would play the game of guess which team has the headline in The Pink.

I remember in the early 90's, for five consecutive Saturday's, each teams result was the same.
This is the result and which team got the Pink headline
both won - United
both won - United
both drew - United
both drew - United
both lost - City

I got a fiver letter in Pink Postbag the following week, highlighting this discrepancy! United got beat something like 2 or 3-0 at home to Everton and City lost by one goal at QPR and the headline was something like ''City crash in London'' or some other similar heading.

United fans come out with the same kind of stuff, but in reverse, obviously. I'm not saying you, or they, are making it up, I'm sure it happened, but not through any agenda. Have you any more up to date examples of our "bias", as they are far easier to address than something that happened years ago, and which we cannot look at?

If there is no bias at the MEN - as you say how come the Sports Editor when he's on Talkshite refers to the rags as "we". Hardly a statement of impartiality. Then again he usually tries to make out he's in the inner sanctum at OT but it's pretty clear the Sports Editor of the MEN has as few connections at OT as he does at the Etihad. For a local paper the MEN really has lost its way and has few if any decent contacts at either club. My issue is less about bias and more about quality.

This is at the heart of the problem. Somebody posts bollox on BM, and people accept it as gospel, without checking it for themselves.
The bollox invariably backs up the notion that the MEN is anti-City, and that is how this bullshit perpetuates.

Over the past couple of years or so,have a look at where most of the City Exclusives come from. Our own OS !!
A few years ago the MEN would have exclusive interviews and knowledge from the inner sanctum of the Etihad.
And most of the time its definately guesswork from SSN when they come up with that wonderful script "SSN understands ... from a source close to the Club ..."
I read the MEN on a daily basis and can honestly say that SB has written sme articles about the Rags that would have seen Fergie choking on his porridge.Complimentary they aint !!
