munich and the truth

I think that's a bit more accurate.

Were the rags wrong paying Cuntona so much to attend? Was his presence going to ensure a successful evening and bring in more money for the beneficiaries even after his ridiculous fee was deducted. That's always going to be questioned.

Putting the fact that he played for the rags aside, to charge a fee to play in a testimonial for players who would earn significantly less in entire 20 year career than he earned in 20 weeks shows that the man is a twat of the highest order. The multimillionaire Mr Cantona shouldn't even have asked for his travelling and accomodation expenses let alone such a ridiculous fee.

I only used to dislike him because he played for the rags and previoulsy Leeds.
But that incident changed it to a 'real' dislike.

I hope he loses everything he owns and ends up in the gutter.

Here here, well put, however Cantona that Lovely Bobberly Charlton (the one who rips his own fans off) and of course the Edwardes family are just milking it for what its worth I mean its just business init ? Why are such shallow individuals drawn to that club, horrible people, can`t tar everyone with the same brush and I have some great `Mancunian` united mates, but it seems to rub off on their fans too.

To be perfectly honest, I don't believe there are any Blues out there who don't know that the Rags have commercially raped the Munich Disaster. Also, there's probably not may Rags who don't know it either (I'm pretty sure every single one of them knows about the Cuntona story).

However, I don't think that we, as Man City fans, cover ourselves in any glory whatsoever when we post comments on here about it. We should be bigger than this now, we should have moved on from it all....so let's do just that. Let the Rags do their thing, and we can just do our thing - sign more players and steadily eat away at them....TICK, TOCK, TICK, TOCK (I believe this winds them up even more than the Munich stuff - so let's just stick to that).

THIS THIS THIS

If I see another Munich thread on this forum I might just explode!!! This 11 page thread is the 4th one in the last week. Who gives a flying fook? This is a blues forum.

Give it a rest, eh?

the air disaster affected the whole of Manchester not just the rags so its understandable that Blues are interested in it too

especially as they have exploited it out of all proportion and the huge groundswell of sympathy is basically what allowed them to become the best supported club in the country

that in turn has meant that they had the global fanbase to milk relentlessly as they strove for financial dominance so that they could impose themselves on the league and mop up the best talent by paying top dollar

kicking out the victims of the crash from the club houses was crass and inexcusable..................but money came first for the rags back then too I guess

There are blues on other threads saying that our club shouldn't be trying to rehome Tevez's kids in order to get him to stay in Manchester. Posted today.

I was born in 1975, I couldn't give a flying fuck about what Louis Edwards did in 1958 and neither should you. How many of the "babes" were actually married? Weren't most of them under 21 anyway? Now you've dragged me into this nonsence. I don't care.

Move on and focus on City. Times are good, lets enjoy them and stop beating this old drum. We can gain nothing from going on and on about it.

Nothing.

why are you bothering to post then???

This thread has been one of the better 1958 debates.

The fact it happened so long ago, is simply that, "a fact", but the impact the disaster and uniteds handling (milking) of it has repercussions today as it HAS seen them catapaulted into the world spotlight

A classic example is this - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superga_air_disaster Now, I bet not many of you knew about that, purely because that club never chose to use it to its own advantage, but merely respected their victims.

Just because events happen before our lifetime, doesn't make them any less relevant - another example being, anybody under the age of 22, if it wasn't for the events of 15th April 1989, you could still be standing on terraces at every ground you visit.

Every disater has a place in history and I think well informed debate on these matters isn't a bad thing

My dad has always told me the same stories he hasnt been to the swamp since and never will. He was that old fashion supporter City 1 week the rags the next but he never went to the swamp after 1958 due to the way they treated the dead the widows and players who didnt recover. He only went to City from that day on.

Yes it was 1958 hooter but it isnt now how can they charge to see a musium based on a disaster and in 2008 how many reefs were lied ? 8 yet 23 died in Munich 1958. Take a look at the many web sites the sick rags have never do they mention the others who died its fucking sick.

My dad always sad it was a Manchester disaster but the rags hijacked it

It's not a debate though, it's the same story being dragged up and regurgitated over and over by a very caustic minority of blues. There are no new revelations to be found, the plane went down, loads of people died, Edwards was a c**t to the victims and their families, the rags grew a huge fanbase all over the world, 40 years after the disaster the victims families got 47k each and Cuntona got 90k!!

That's what happened, and in February 2012, 2013, 2014....the story will still be the same. No new facts to add to what we already know.

So, lets move on and get over it. It's their burden, not ours. There are some blues on here bringing up this "Munich families being screwed" story with a certain amount of glee, and that makes me feel sad.

In the present day at our own club we've got bigger and better things to concentrate on. This is the most exciting time to be a blue, so can we put this Munich shite to bed now, eh?

for a newbie you don't half give it and you don't half not get it, either.

Difficult when they, coincidentally, keep scheduling the derby as they do. Some City fans don't like being pawns in this tragedy.

1. It was the 50s, so what? That isn't long enough ago to forget morality.
2. What exactly "was different" then that made this acceptable?
3. What is our history compares to evicting the families of dead players?
4. Why haven't United, with all of their billions of success rectified this huge mistake?

You're a one trick pony argument, trying to excuse the inexcusable.
I've been a Union man since the 70s, paid my dues to fight against the Man, been on strike against rich bosses that stamp down on the working man, so I know how hard life is.....
Some people have a agenda against United, I wonder why, it was a common practice at the time, new players needed to be housed.

back then Football teams were poor, unlike now.

You should read Stanley Mathews autobiography, because he makes the point of how poorly players were treated, not only by their clubs, but also by the football association.
He reckons football clubs were making stacks of money, because of large crowds and players salary caps, and the boards were taking all the money out of the clubs.
He also recalled a story of an England team mate who when called up to play for England had to pay his own traveling expenses to London and reclaim them. The guy was told to travel second class and when the footballer presented expenses of a cup of tea and a sandwich whilst traveling, he was disciplined.

That club is and always will be rotten to the core. Selfish ignorant bastards. "Lest we forget"?

The fans-c*nts - the club bigger c*nts for exploiting such a disaster and tossing human beings in the streets - cu*ts.
