Mick Ronson
It's funny, I've never been a fan of JP or LZ. Just never grabbed me, they always seemed sloppy live on the vids I've seen.
100% agreed about them live. It's funny, I've never been a fan of JP or LZ. Just never grabbed me, they always seemed sloppy live on the vids I've seen.
This post has just reminded me in a round about way that in my top 10 submission I’ve neglected to include The Stones greatest ever guitarist, the man who made their 72-74 tours untouchable. Oh well.Mick Ronson
Agree.100% agreed about them live.
I’ve always maintained Zeppelin were a great studio band but sounded underpowered (always) and sloppy (often) in a live context, outside of their acoustic segments that it. The textures he created on record with his multi-layering of guitars was incredible though.
In the same way Gilmour sensibly realised the need for a Snowy White, Page should have done similar.
Now yer talkin'. ;)Not playing but…..
A few I love listening to….
Rory - Live. Nuff said.
Hendrix - Most innovative.
Carlos - Feel. Rhythm.
Gilmore - for reasons already offered on here.
SRV - Had it all tbh.
Zappa - composition.
Steve Vai - passed Zappa interview.
Dickie Betts - someone mentioned Allman Bros.
Gary Moore - for mix of tech ability and passion/feel.
Steve Howe or Steve Hackett ….. The very best of prog.
There are loads of others that can be argued better I’m sure but it’s all subjective.
These guys at one stage or another have just had me transfixed.
Poison Ivy from The CrampsUnrelated, haven't seen a single womans name mentioned yet.
She always played the maracas.I am going for that one out of Rainbow.
Can't remember if it was Rod or Freddie, it defo wasn't Jane though cos she played keyboards.
