Sparklehorse. Alas, no longer with us since mainman Mark Linkous committed suicide in Knoxville, Tennessee in March 2010. He also championed the music of the weird but wonderful Daniel Johnston.

I get a lot of grief from mates (and my missus, who usually shares my taste in music) for my love of this band ..... from their early New York Dolls/Trash days, right through to their masterpiece final album, Tin Drum.

Mick Karn was a phenomenal, distinctive bass player. (RIP)
