Must see documentaries..

Thanks for the reply Marcus. It's a long time since I read that book so thanks for the update.
Did the docu give any indication as to what might have "happened" to Bible John?
I used to live in Bury and back in the early 90s there was the murder of Shirley Leach. She was a tiny little pensioner and she was killed whilst using the Interchange/bus station toilet whilst waiting for her next bus. Was years before DNA caught up with the killer....he'd given nobody any cause for alarm and was still living a "normal" life in the town.
So I guess what I'm asking is do they think Bible John just sunk back into the shadows without killing anyone else?
Only really opinions as to who he was and where he went. No one literally has a clue really.
it was a great and interesting watch and lots of footage of 60s glasgow.

As an aside , there were a lot of similarities in how the police carried out the investigations to the way the yorkshire ripper investigation was.

none of bible johns victims were prostitutes but a definite attitude of “woman, some married, some with children, going out dancing to barrowlands , without a husband… tut tut”

Yeah, awful atmosphere at the time. I worked in the big DHSS building across the road at that time and we had Police going through the bins the next morning, looking for the weapon I presume. My colleague (several years later, when he was finally arrested) knew his then wife. She could hardly believe it but, as you say, he'd got away with some bloody awful things before then. He was a manipulator and psychopath who managed (to some extent) to appear "normal."

I can't imagine what that must've been like for his wife and family.

The Alpinst, solo climbing. Now showing on sky
This is brilliant, if slightly unnerving. Spent a lot of time watching it through my fingers.

The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst ( he died earlier this month) is also well worth a watch. Watching the world's richest psychopathic multiple murderer slowly unravel. Absolutely jaw-dropping ending.

Some of the images were hard to watch, and appeared a mixture of reactions to what happened. Some appeared guilty of being as they put it " perpetrators " others seemed almost blasé to what happened. I visited the holocaust memorial in Berlin which was a stark reminder of what happened

Thanks for the heads up Mr Splinter and we've just watched this. If anyone viewed Alex honnald's attempt to free climb El Capitan then your in for a similar treat.

The difference with the Alpinist is that Marc specialized in free climbing ice and snow capped mountains in incredibly hostile and unforgiving terrain. Also this docu is not just about his climbing attribute but centres more on the man himself and his relationships with all that encountered his positive vibe (energy).

An unbelievable character that never stopped smiling who was an inspiration to all. Even the small moments in the film were "super" impactful like him hula hooping with Heavy Duty and his interactions with that patagonian kid.

Rest in peace Marc-Andre Leclerc.
