My theory on rising prices of everything

when you hear about some of the massive,record-breaking profits some companies are making, I get suspicious. We're being had! Tesco even lied about their profits. Fuck 'em...shoplifters of the world unite...
Tesco’s lies were to overstate their profits.

I really don't see the argument for the broadband providers being allowed to increase prices by 3.9% plus inflation. How has inflation affected them? Have they paid all their staff inflation-matching or better pay rises? What exactly is the cost of providing broadband that's gone up so much?

That just increases inflation and provides higher profits to those companies, whereas paying public sector workers more puts money into the economy and increases growth.

Bit of a thread resurrection for some reason but just spotted this. while I don't doubt companies are inflating prices more than they need to but one thing a broadband provider will be using a lot of is Electricity and those prices have indeed sky rocketed. as have services those ISP's use in terms of customer support. most call centres etc are hiking prices too.

First time I've been angry food shopping this morning.

Like many others it was a choice of only getting what I need. No treats etc.

Went there with my budget and getting frustrated at all the mental arithmetic and decision making needed just to eat.

I don't begrudge a profit but I can't help but think they supermarkets are milking everyone for every last penny because they can.
The profiteering is sickening. There are record profits across many (/most?) sectors yet they keep putting prices up for people who struggle to or can’t really afford it.

Supermarkets, fuel, football clubs… they’re all money grabbing cunts who don’t give a single shit about any of us.
