My theory on rising prices of everything

Not to mention shrinking pack sizes and weights on the QT, whilst prices continue to go up.

We're getting bummed by the manufacturers and the retailers.

I really don't see the argument for the broadband providers being allowed to increase prices by 3.9% plus inflation. How has inflation affected them? Have they paid all their staff inflation-matching or better pay rises? What exactly is the cost of providing broadband that's gone up so much?

That just increases inflation and provides higher profits to those companies, whereas paying public sector workers more puts money into the economy and increases growth.
'allowed'? It's a contract that people happily signed up to. Like everyone else, suspect they didn't expect inflation to be at 10%.

If they all go through with it, it'll basically be rent seeking, assuming they've not put salaries up by that amount, and it'll be down to consumers to look for better deals. All our mobiles are SIM only and if they try putting those up by 13% I'll happily be moving onto new deals that won't have been put up by those amounts. Stuck with the broadband for a bit but will happily move that as well.

From an inflation perspective, however, high profits to those companies that then end up with shareholders i.e. pension companies, would be far better than increasing the pay of public sector workers, which puts more money into the economy and therefore fuels inflation. Not a comment on which is the right thing to do, just reality of money supply and inflation

It's the destruction of the balance of supply and demand, as caused by the Covid lockdowns.

Wife bought a packet of Boost bars they should be renamed Boo as they are fucking tiny now, mind you she said she’s used to small things these days, no idea what she meant?

First time I've been angry food shopping this morning.

Like many others it was a choice of only getting what I need. No treats etc.

Went there with my budget and getting frustrated at all the mental arithmetic and decision making needed just to eat.

I don't begrudge a profit but I can't help but think they supermarkets are milking everyone for every last penny because they can.

I agree I could weeks plus worth of food out of Lidl, Aldi or Iceland during covid.

Now it's well expensive. I have to choose once a week what can be added as a treat for my kids rather than everything

Milk does it for me, £1.25 for a 2 pinter and £1.45 for 4 Pinter, if it was £2 for the 4 Pinter I think I would be ok with it - stupid I know but it just feels odd.

Just making sure they get their slice of the post Covid pie just like all the others mate ;-), it’s a fuckin pile on.

Incidentally, I was moaning about Aldi the other week and some of the things I normally get going up on a weekly basis, suddenly, they’ve gone back down again (green beans now back to £1.19 from £1.49, their shit mint Aero rip-off back to 99p from £1.09, you can get the proper Aero for £1.19 ffs) makes you think someone’s maybe had a word with them.
