I think this team would challenge the top 4. Its just getting this team that is hard. I would also sign:

- Van der Vaart
- Garay
- Downing (if Boro go down)
- Glen Johnson

ruthless, im seeing a team like that:

_AGUERO/SWP________________ROBINHO

_____________BENZEMA/VILLA

I'd defo prefer this to the OP

This is my effort, inspired by the talk of 'Total Football'. I think we already have a few quite versatile players capable of implementing the system but I've added a few more who I think would also suit that style of play. I've strayed a bit from the rules as well and have picked two players for each role, in fact it's all gone a bit Football Manager, sorry.

--------------1--------------- 1. Goalkeeper
------------------------------
-------2------3------4-------- 2. Right Centre Back, 3. Centre Back, 4. Left Centre Back
--------------5--------------- 5. Defensive Midfielder
----------6-------7----------- 6. Deep-Lying Playmaker, 7. Box to Box Midfielder
---8----------------------9--- 8. Winger, 9. Winger
----------------10------------ 10. Second Striker
-----------11----------------- 11. Centre Forward

1. Given / Hart
2. Onuoha / Richards
3. Kompany (c) / Dunne
4. Chiellini / Lescott
5. De Jong / Zabaleta
6. Alonso / Elano
7. Ireland / Johnson
8. David Silva / Wright-Phillips
9. Robinho / Petrov
10. Aguero / Bellamy
11. Benzema / Bojinov

I know it's a very attacking team but if the players were willing to put a real shift in, defending and attacking as a team, then I think we would reap the rewards. Maybe the new signings are possibly a bit unrealistic as well (and would probably cost £200 million or more) but anything could happen knowing City.

Zaba is not good enough for right back, no pace.

Agreed, as much as I love his commitment, Zab gets skinned at right back far too often.

Quality team and that, but do you really think Van der Vaart would leave Reals bench, for ours?

Also, if boro go down (which is likely) I wouldn't mind Tuncay, very versatile + skilled player. Would love a guy like him in our squad.

swap santa cruz for a 40m Benzema, and SWP for 40m Ribery.....then were laughing

This.

We should definitely pull out the stops to sign Benzema if possible. Ribery will most likely go to Barca if anywhere.

Dream......

Dream,Dream,Dream....

Oh, how funny these threads are!!

And someone actually put Lescott in their team!! Why do you all think that every player will suddenly want to sign for your shite??
