what is painfully apparent is that Sunak's tenure will echo that of Johnson. The Zahawi saga is probably only the start of a number of issues that will have to be teased out by the press and investigators bit by bit and it will be the same death by a thousand cuts to the Sunak Govt. The idea that Zahawi overlooked something but then corrected it thus incurring a £3.7m penalty but thats all normal just won't wash and we can all see where this story ends up.
Meantime when Jenrick, Gove and today Raab go on TV defending him they do draw fire away but they draw it onto themselves. Do they not think that doing it arouses some journo to look into their doings - Jenrick still has to explain why he overrode civil servants advice and waved through Richard Desmonds property development plans days before a rule change and after attending a dinner with Desmond - Gove, a self confessed drug user, couldn't balance on one leg the other day and Raab's account of the "closed" sea as Kabul fell is proving to be some distance from the truth.
There is plenty to look at in the soon to come post Zahawi era
