Name a Rush tune.

Genesis have never been an obsession of the british, in fact they garnered a cult following here because of the general indifference of the public and press, they were bigger across europe than in the Uk as here they were seen as an indulgent middle class load of tossers.

Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins (R.I.P.) were more famous as solo artists later on though collins was still considered a middle class tory twat and open target for piss taking.
I’m going to gingerly step aside as I’ve already been embroiled in enough controversy the last 24 hours and I stand somewhere between you and their rabid defenders.

I will say of the collective output of the Genesis crew as group or solo, my favo(u)rite work is Gabriel’s third record.

It’s a tough one! IMO: Peart is better than Bruford but Bruford is great. Squire is better than Lee but Lee is great. Howe and Lifeson — argh! Neck and neck? Tough one. Either one, I like them both. Rush never had a keyboardist (a foot pedalist in Lee basically). I don’t care for Lee nor Anderson as singers.

Anyhow, I really like Yes too — I just love giving Brits crap because of the “Gene-yes” obsession you lot have!
Do you have some sort of Richter scale machine that you've created that gives these " he's better than him" scores ? :)

Which Genesis are you talking about? Presumably not the one I saw headlining at Knebworth because there was so much indifference to them.

Admit it they were all there for Jefferson Starship really :-)

Ha ha just preference! It doesn’t matter really — they’re all superb. Now final output-wise I prefer Rush and I think there’s something to be said for the mutual respect, camaraderie and friendship that can hold a group of artists together for 40 years. But, you know — they’re Canadian.

“Freedom at Point Zero” is a great song and not a horrible overall record for late 70s rock smaltz.

(Fun fact — my little brother dated China Kantner when they were in high school. She was exactly the hot mess she became as a young adult he says (and so was he), but they both cleaned up their respective acts thankfully).

Well, Yes weren't very good at the friendship thing :)
