Napoli attendance {merged}

Re: 28k (ish) for Napoli?

It frustrates me that our supporters wish for the club to move forward yet continue to watch on the television. I respect those who have financial constraints and are obliged to place that money elsewhere and I respect those who would have to travel a considerable distance there and back in one night due to work commitments.

It is not for me to judge every induvidual on this thread who will unnecessarily attempt to justify themselves. If you have the finances to make the match but have plumped for the cheaper option I'd ask you why and would urge you to witness our Champions League debut in person.

This is going to be an historic night with an exceptional atmosphere regardless of the attendance. It will be worth paying the acceptable amount of £25.00 to watch some entertaining football and some truly world class players contend our first match in the elite competition.

If you haven't got a ticket but can afford to go, please make the effort. The lads will need your support in what will be a very difficult match.

28k (ish) for Napoli?

I'll be there, and was at all the above, but it isn't anything like at that level in my opinion. It isn't a do or die, an all or nothing, like they were. There are two more group games to come.

Get your point, but aswell as the nature of those matches there, to me, is the keynote aspect also. Defining points in our history. The first time I sat in my seat at COMS, I thought how good it would look decked out for the CL, for me this is a biggie, so I struggle to grasp why people would CHOOSE not be there?

Yep me too. The fact that it is the first (and there is only one of those EVER) is historically important. I'd rather go to the first vs anyone than the quarter final versus Barca. The occasion is more important than the opponent if you have a sense of history. It seems some of our fans don't agree. Up to them (the fools! ;-) )

Re: 28k (ish) for Napoli?

I can't always make the prem games due to family and financial restrictions, so a low cost night time game is perfect for me.

C_T_i_D what a great message, absolutely spot on, hopefully any last minute dawdlers take note.

Exactly, it was like being at coms for our first game, start of a new era at this club.

Re: 28k (ish) for Napoli?

The embarrassment that was our Community Shield attendance was supposedly down to the fact that it was a meaningless game, people were on holiday and people were saving the money for the Champions League games - so where is everyone now?
Perhaps it is time to reassess the sleeping giant theory? Maybe this is as good as it gets -
28 to 30 thousand core support and the rest on a pick and choose basis.

Re: 28k (ish) for Napoli?

Understand that the current financial situation is very hard to live in at the moment and wont slag off those that will not be attending on Wednesday.

As for myself I feel lucky and honoured that I can attend an historic night watching [my team[, a team that I used to watch playing Mansfield on a cold week night or Grimsby or Lincoln etc etc, playing in the major World club competition against the best the world can offer.

Re: 28k (ish) for Napoli?

The "embarrassment" being referred to is simply those out there who fear being ribbed off their United mates.

You can admit it or not but that's the truth.

Grow some balls and give it them both fucking barrells - it's only Man Utd fans who choose their club because they've got the most fans. Who gives a shit how many fans a club has?

Re: 28k (ish) for Napoli?

Don't worry, the tourists will be here in a couple of years and the people snubbing games like this and Birmingham will be moaning that some camera-happy Chinese fan is stealing his ticket.

Napoli could still be more or less a sell out, btw (anyone got a sales update today?), but really it should have been long ago now.
