What people need to understand is the damage threads like this do to the club.

Talksport and Sky Sports News both picked up on the expected low attendance as it had been brought to their attention. The estimated crowd of 28,000 was so far out, it was funny.

Why do we do this? It leaves us open to criticism when the eventual crowd was a very healthy 44,000. Next time don't listen to the security guards, the staff printing the shirts or the next door neighbour, wait until the official attendance is announced.

Same goes for seat counting ....
I agree. I posted on the first page of this thread with this kind of sense. It's a pity SOOO many people just get drawn in with all the stupid and foolish "it'll be a disgrace if..." "it'll be embarrassing if..." bullshit. There was over 100 pages of the shit before the Community Sheild yet we sold about 85-90% of our 25000 tickets to an almost meaningless game. Considering the size of our fanbase and the fact we only sell out away games (that are just 2000-7000 tickets) about 50% of the time every season, that's a good attendance.

44026 was an excellent attendance last night. I'm proud of it and I knew I would be 70 odd pages ago. Okay there was a discussion to be had about the fucking ticket office but we could - and did - have that discussion without thread titles for press and media hacks and Rags to have a field day with when the "28k" shit is so unfounded. When things that actually happen that are out of order, by all means, constructively criticise it; but what's in the minds of people who call people a disgrace when the thing they're a disgrace for hasn't happened and almost definately would never happen?!

Re: 28k (ish) for Napoli?

For those slagging off Liam i'd be interested to know how many tickets we shifted as a result of this thread. I'd say it was a fair few and i bet it had more of an impact than the ridiculous "nearly sold out" bollocks the club put out over a week ago

Re: 28k (ish) for Napoli?

It was an excellent attendance last night and a fantastic occasion to boot. What I cannot understand that on the lead up to an event we have all waited along time for, the most popular thread is a speculatively criticising the attendance than rejoicing in the achievements of the club.

Quite incredible that some people cant focus on the positives

Re: 28k (ish) for Napoli?

Talkshite last night after the match. Car Radio.

Can't remember his name. Apparently he's a RAG.

Straight in with did it sell out?

Later on. Only 40k turned up.

Then said he had receieved loads of emails from City fans correcting that statement..

It was obvious the f***ker either reads Red Issue/ Rag Cafe, as he couldn't wait to mention the attendance , empty seats and unsold tickets. Then the charm offensive kicked in.
