For those slagging off Liam i'd be interested to know how many tickets we shifted as a result of this thread. I'd say it was a fair few and i bet it had more of an impact than the ridiculous "nearly sold out" bollocks the club put out over a week ago

Bollocks its a crap thread ..no need for it

Talkshite last night after the match. Car Radio.

Can't remember his name. Apparently he's a RAG.

Straight in with did it sell out?

Later on. Only 40k turned up.

Then said he had receieved loads of emails from City fans correcting that statement..

It was obvious the f***ker either reads Red Issue/ Rag Cafe, as he couldn't wait to mention the attendance , empty seats and unsold tickets. Then the charm offensive kicked in.

yeah he was going "40k, 40k. 5k empty, 5k empty.. not good at all".

straight away a city fan phoned up "44k mate and napoli didn't sell out".

"oh well ermmm... we are getting loads of emails saying it was 44k, im going to sack whoever gave me that stat".

and yes he is a rag, and is from london. he also kept saying united need to play well against arsenal at weekend...fucking CHELSEA you tit.

4th highest attendence out of all the matches.

I had to laugh though. Barca v AC Milan. 96,000

Think they might struggle when the FFPR come into affect. ;-)

Re: 28k (ish) for Napoli?

Durham and Gough were going on about us not selling out on TalkSport, whilst I was driving up to the game, asking for good reason why?
A few City fans called with various suggestions (crap ticket office, kids at school, time off work etc), with Gough saying if his beloved Barnsley were playing in the CL he'd take the day off work, drive 300 miles to the game and take his kid/kids with him no matter what time he got home afterwards.
With Durham saying "well maybe they are not as big a Club as their supports say they are" and "I'm sure Manchester United sold out their first CL game...." Absolutely loved it when a City supporter called and said that the attendance at their first CL game in 1993 was 35,000!
Totally pointless subject of bashing Manchester City on a national radio station based upon speculation.
IMO an excellent turn-out given the current economic climate.

Chelsea only got 33,000. We got 44,000 when the maximum we could have got is around 44,500.

I've not seen or heard any mention of that and yet we have to endure this.

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.thefirstpost.co.uk/84547,sport,football,why-were-there-empty-seats-at-the-etihad-as-manchester-city-took-champions-league-bow" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.thefirstpost.co.uk/84547,spo ... league-bow</a>

I absolutely abhor our media so much, they will do anything to beat us with a stick. When Spurs qualified last year, it seemed the entire media was unified in support of them and this year many of them are willing us to fail and when we don't quite fail, by getting a credible draw, they pick at whatever they can including a few empty seats while repeated league champions Chelsea are well below capacity - and lets not forget United failing to sell out their Champions League debut by a bigger margin as us despite being so "famous".

I crave domination by our club so much, I can't wait to hear what these absolute parasites come up with when we rule England. If we were in Birmingham or Leicester, half of this hatred would not exist as we would not be challenging the beloved "Manchester" United for territorial domination.

Re: 28k (ish) for Napoli?

Henry Winter also tweeted the ground wasn't full, which fuelled a few ill-informed tweets from rags etc. He was impressed with the atmosphere though comparing it with Dortmund the night before.
