Napoli Vs City Post Match Discussion Thread

I don't get this talk of learning to play at the top level? Most of our players if not all are international players, how much more top level do you want? Our players have played in most leagues around the world, Italy. Spain, France etc so it is not alien to them, that is where tactics concentration and the right selection comes in to it unfortunately we have fell short on all 3 in Europe this year

For me, got nothing to do with playing at top level. We play our backups, we get backup performances. They play their starting 11 and get a starting 11 performance.

We had holes in at least 4 positions today where we normally get production.

IMO, its not the end of the world being knocked out group stages. As long as we play the kids in the Europa and it doesnt affect our league form, I will not be bothered in the slightest. We were never going to win it first time around, and I'd take winning the league over the Champions League any day. Shows you're the most consistent team in the country and to win it for the first time in so long would be magical.

Only drawback is back to fucking Sunday matches after Thursdays.

But beat Bayern and we've got a chance, so keep the faith in any case.

Some unbelievably monging going on here again from no nothing no marks it's the fucking champions league not the john sons paint milk cup. Wankers

Game Stats from BBC

Evenly matched...chances taken are what counted tonight.

Possession
Napoli 40%
Man City 60%

Attempts on target
Napoli 7
Man City 9

Attempts off target
Napoli 6
Man City 9

Corners
Napoli 3
Man City 5

Fouls
Napoli 9
Man City 10

OPTA saying we had 70.4% possession tonight. Mental how much we can retain the ball, counter attack killed us.

Fist game versus Napoli back line:
Zabaleta, Kompany, Lescott, Kolarov

Anyone remember the whining about playing Zabaleta and Kolarov instead of Richards and Clichy?
Guess Mancini learnt nothing from that. I would have given my right arm for Richards and Clichy on the pitch. What a fucking disaster Kolarov was.

When you play a 3-4-3, what area of the pitch do you exploit? Takes no genius to figure out the flanks.

Also, substitutions in the 80th minute? Really? What does Mancini think will change in ten minutes? Aguero shook his head when he asked the official how much time was left. That says it all.

It was obvious after 20-30 minutes that Balotelli and Dzeko weren't clicking tonight. Why on motherfucking earth wait until the 80th minute to change that?????

Cue the abuse, but this one is on Mancini.
In my opinion Mancini plays his best team in the premiership, thats why Zaba leta and Kolarov start inplace of Richards and Clichy. Just look at his line up for Liverpool it will be his strongest team, as he did at the swamp.

Mancini's fault. He failed to learn the lesson of the draw at Eastlands by sticking with Dzeko, Kolarov, Zab.

I'd take the PL instead of the CL and I think I said that before the very first CL game.

Just listening to 5Live and Danny Mills saying that he's been giving City praise when it is due. Hypocrite. This is the man who a week or two before we destroyed United that City was on the point of implosion with dissent in the dressing room and about to fall apart on the field. We lost tonight, but have we imploded? Let's answer that after Liverpool on Sunday.

Respectfully Chippy, De Jong was in my eyes, responsible for the second Goal. He forced Cavani to pass it wide, then went out to assist two defenders approaching whoever crossed it. He shouldn't get 6 in my eyes 4 max... Shocking decision making as Cavani had acres of space for that shot

De Jong was shocking today, at fault for the second, giving it away trying to pass in the air.

Dzeko seemed distant and couldn't get into the game.

Balo should have had a freekick on the edge of the area, blatant foul, shocking the linesman didn't flag.

Play the reserves in Europa. I'll still go to the games though, might win it ;)

^^^^ 'tis. Whoever gave NDJ a 6 ( equating hiis performance as good as Silva's today) must be full of it or fill with one sided ADORATION.

Should have played either Nasri, Barry or Aguero all technically superior player than dJ.

There are only 3 people to blame for this defeat.

1. MANCINI- Joke to not play our best two fullbacks by far.

2. KOLAROV- Disgrace for £17m

3. DE JONG- Embarrasing for him, their second goal.

We were never going to win this first time around. Could be a blessing in disguise. The rags are going out next round too.
