Nasri

So far looks a typical Arsenal player, great technicaly, but when the going gets tough......goes AWOL....would not like to be with him in the trenches

The 'playing on the wrong side/ wrong position is in my opinion a rather weak excuse'. Nasri is clearly good enough to cut in from a wide position, beat a player, or play a cutting pass.

If he is struggling to do this early on in the game, I am sure he would have the intelligence to drift inside and play a more central role as the game develops.

An attacking player of quality, given the relatively free role which he has, will more often then not play well in many attacking positions. I doubt Silva would struggle noticeably on the left/right/handcuffed/blindfolded/central side of the pitch.

In my opinion, Nasri was bought to play a more cutting role. He was bought to beat players, pull defenders wide, score goals and add pace on the counter attack. The way we play (often vs. 10 man defences, slow attacking build up) does not favour his style. This explains why his most outstanding performance so far has been against spurs, an open and attacking team.

Nasri is the definition of a luxury player. At home he should start almost every game. Away against a decent team we should play 3 defensive MF (milner, DJ, YT) and 3 attackers, with the view to bring Nasri on if needed.

Spot on in almost every respect, although I think 'luxury player' is a bit harsh. However, the 3 DM (albeit they are all more attacking that that) is absolutely the right tactic for most away games IMO.

People watched us twat Tottenham , and will have noticed that he was key in that . Every game since then , in which he has started , he has been crowded out by at least 2 players . He has been quiet I agree but that isn't down to him , it assume it is quite difficult to create something with 11 men behind the ball and 2 of them giving you constant hastle. Plus , Nasri is more suited to playing in the middle , as a central attacking midfielder. I watched him play for arsenal against liverpool , he played in central midfield , and although arsenal lost the game , he was impressive . He is a central player , so don't judge him until he plays there . The same was going for Milner when he came , decent debut then people get on his backs for not producing the same thing every week . it was the same issue with Milner , he was being played out of position. Now every time he plays in central midfield , he seems to do a very good job . Nasri is a quality midfielder , and the problem has been that we haven't really taken the lead early in games. If we take the lead early , the opposition have to come and attack and open up , and then generally begin to loosen up defensively . Against the likes of Napoli , Everton and Bayern , we couldn't score early and force them to come at us , so it was easy for them to crowd him out . Also , he puts in his fair share of effort , he tracks back the majority of the time ( more so than silva ) and runs non stop . There is a reason we paid so much for him , and it is because he is a class act , the people who criticise him after less than a month at the club are just looking for someone to blame and point their frustrations to

Nasri isn't a wide player. He's being played wide. Nasri is a central/attacking midfielder. It was common knowledge that he went to Arsene Wenger and told him to stop playing him on the left wing. Mancini has played him wide left in every game so far.

Against Blackburn I'd like to see a revamp in the team:

-----------------------Hart-------------------
-----------Kompany--------Lescott----------
Richards-------------------------------Clichy
---------------Milner--------de Jong---------
-----------------------Nasri-------------------
---------Silva---------------------Agüero-----
----------------------Balotelli-----------------

How's that an overreaction? all i have said is that i have not been impressed with him so far and you can't give him the new league/new culture leeway that you give most players. Am i not allowed to say that on a football forum that is used for discussing............football?

I expected more from him to be honest, he had a great debut but since then his talent has shone through in climpses, but give him a bit longer to gel with the team and he will prove what a great player he is
