It was my fault he had a 'mare today, for the first time I was singing his praises to one of my mates before the game, I still think he's top notch though. Anyone who thinks you can defend at this level without fouling, whether purposely or not, either doesn't understand football or is a knob. Sorry for being blunt.

Here's the thing. Nastasic for a 19 year has been immense. You just don't get 19 year olds playing the centre half position regularly at this level unless they are capable because they will get found out. But still even the best 19 year old centre back ever will have games he needs to learn from. If a 19 year old striker scores 9 but misses 1 he is still a revaluation. If a 19 year old defender has 9 good games but makes a mistake, which for a defender basically is giving a goal away, he is suspect.

But, as good as he has been, he isn't as good as people are making out to be. Not yet anyway. Pace is not an issue. Defenders do not rely on pace, they rely on reading the game. Another reason why experience is more valuable for a defender than any other position other than possibly keeper.

He is not the strongest but again he is 19. Look at Kompany now and then compare him to when he was 19. Or Vidic, who blue glasses off has been a top defender. Where was he at 19? As a rule you just don't get 19 year olds playing week in week out at this level. So if you don't want the odd mistake whilst he is learning growing and improving then sell him. But if we did decide that be sure that all the top clubs will be waiting.

Let him have a bad game. We let Silva and Aguerro off for them. It will stand us in good stead for many a year.

yes he had a bad game but some of these comments are pathetic! 'cant defend' 'cant head' 'too slow' 'no threat in opposition box' 'likely to give away penalty' 'likely to get 2 bookings'

if these are real flaws in his game, why have they not been exposed until now, and why haven't you lot piped up before about all his shortcomings?

I've not seen the game todayso I can't comment on his performance but surely anyone that's remotely savvy can tell this boy's a gem.
