A few people seem to be slating Ake. What needs to be considered is that Eddie Howe is not the greatest of managers and notorious for not developing players.

Tyrone Mings was at Bournemouth and we didn't hear much about him until his move to Villa..

He’s a lot better than people are giving him credit for.

He’s playing in a very poor side and a poor side that’s also not set up to defend.

The positives are he has the attributes to be a really good CB for us, will already have spent years playing in a system that leaves him exposed, however will now have better players to play with.

Is he not? Lol my bad, I've thought for years we wanted him that him being english was a big deal.

Qualifies as Home Grown which where the confusion may come in. He was at the Chavs at such a young age he qualifies as aforementioned HG. But he’s Dutch and a Dutch International to be boot. Would probably start each game I’m sure if van Dijk and de Ligt weren’t playing.

I think we will move stones and Zinchenko on but will have to keep hold of otamendi until his contract runs out unfortunately, Ake can then be back up for Mendy. We will have plenty of cover at CB then and Laporte has played LB for us and didn’t disappoint if my memory is correct

It will be very hard to sell Ota/Stones for a decent price if we buy him so soon

we don’t need to sell them for a decent price, we just need to sell them.

Otamendi has been value for us, now he’s 32 and won’t fetch a good fee. The time to sell him was after the centurion season, we didn’t so I wouldn’t mind letting him go for free given his high wages.

Stones hasn’t been value but at least he’s younger and homegrown. We should be able to get £20m+.

Is an alternate option to Alaba really, can play numerous positions. I love the idea he’s HG and quick. Furthermore, he’s been captain of Bournemouth so I’m assuming he’s not going to come in and not add something to the dressing room. He’s played in a poor Bournemouth side but the key attributes I think are there for us.

If we ever have to rely on a CB playing wing back for us, then I'd say we have failed miserably with our transfers and squad building.

In edit: Having said that, I like Ake as a CB, a better back-up to Laporte than what we have now, and I suspect Ake would be one of the two CB's we'll sign if this is genuine news.

All these experts who watch the Portuguese or Lithuanian league on a regular basis can say about a n other but at least we know this lad

From what I’ve seen, I like him. I’m not expecting him to the difference between winning the league and not but I think he’s definitely good enough for the squad. Being relatively cheap and HG is a bonus
