Assuming we get Koulibaly that's the weakest of the pairings though, we don't have to play the weakest it could easy be 1 starter with 1 rotation:

This gives us plenty of options. Ake and Garcia could easily cope with early round cup games as well.

Not at all , I’ve watched him & he’s an average player , not a City signing imo, standards are dropping if we’re signing players like this .

I have to agree,he seems a decent enough player but not for where we want to be challenging on all fronts,seems like a arsenal,Everton,Spurs level type signing..

Pep played Mascherano at centre-half and didn't do too shabbily, so Ake is a good acquisition.

Liverpool currently hold the Premier League and Champions League with Matip as 3rd choice. You don’t need Raphael Varane sat on the bench as 3rd choice to dominate.

He’s a cover signing, not our main CB with ~75 prem starts. It’s very ideal for our current needs.

He’s saying Ake ticks a lotta boxes, fast, tremendous on the ball, good in the tackle, plays left cb and plays left back, and is homegrown so it’s a lot to be thankful for a backup who’s gonna rotate and usually be next to a tall CB anyway.

To be honest if its £30m+ then its very good business, hes has attributes & under Pep hw will get better.

Stones & Nico are gone if this deal goes through.
