Not at all , I’ve watched him & he’s an average player , not a City signing imo, standards are dropping if we’re signing players like this .
Is he better than our third and fourth choice now, is he better than our home grown choice now? IMO, he’s much better. So it isn’t a drop in standard. If he was going to play with Laporte then you may have a point, obviously he isn’t.

From a defence perspective, as long as he doesn't make mistakes and is not injury prone that is a step in the right direction.

If we don’t sign Koulibaly he will be

Liverpool currently hold the Premier League and Champions League with Matip as 3rd choice. You don’t need Raphael Varane sat on the bench as 3rd choice to dominate.
Yeah get that, but if say Laporte gets injured would you be confident with Ake and say Garcia for a run of games,to be fair I think matip was first choice eventually to play alongside van dyke ..

No, if we don’t sign Koulibaly we’ll sign another centre back to play on the right. Ake wouldn’t be bought with any intention of being played as a right sided partner for Laporte. Again its obvious.

is this what it feels like to be on the other end of the "you signed Phil Jones, we signed Aguero" chants if one of our rivals is signing Havertz in the same timeframe?

Always like Ake, only reservation is he's a little short for a CB

If we don’t sign Koulibaly we will be in the shit , I am presuming we are as Ake is an average player who will not be a regular , may as well keep stones & Garcia as back up , don’t see the point .

Ake would allow Mendy to play more freely higher up while help covering against the counter attack. I think Ake can with Laporte even if Laporte is left footed because it would be more like a back 3 with Walker dropping back as well.
