Scott Sinclair, Jack Rodwell, Navas, Savic, Jovetic, Fernando...

Buying players who aren’t better than your first choice and who never will be better than your first choice never works out.

I’ve seen nothing of Ake to suggest he’s going to be better than what we have.

Christ that name sent shivers down my spine. I had forget about that useless twat. At least Rodwell and Sinclair didn’t cost too much. I remember that penalty when he grabbed the ball and ballooned it 10 yards over and wide. Hideous player!

Even if Stones was better (he's clearly, not which is why our management are replacing him), why would anyone compare how good Stones is in a Pep side seeing 80% possession surrounded by world class players with Aké who they've only seen him in a relegation threatened back 4 surrounded by ancient Championship players?

Ultimately we can say Aké has the traits Pep likes in defenders. He's very good on the ball under pressure, he has good passing range, he carries the ball out of defence, he is aggressive in the tackle. He's a very physical defender, he's fast, he's missed 6 league games in his life through injury and at 25 with 150 league games under his belt he's both young and experienced.

Bloody spot on. I've been hoping City would put a bid in for the last 2 years. He fits the bill for me and will only improve under Peps guidance.

I do agree about Stones & I have always backed him when taking shit from other fans, problem we have is we don't see what's going on in training, away from football is he behaving.

Souness is right Stones has everything in his locker but struggles with his most important his fooking brain.

Laporte needs cover. Who do we buy that’s better than him or close?

Then we need someone to partner Laporte, who is comparable in quality. Another 70-80 mil?

Where’s the money for a left back? Where’s the money for a Sané replacement? Then let’s say those big money signings don’t work. What now?

So you do not think our players have generally speaking performed worse than last year ? You think Corona virus wont affect price of players ?

I am bigger fan of several players that most people on here have a pop at including Zincheko Angelino and Stones.Look at my posts. I never actually mentioned Stones so do not no where that came from.

I just do not think clubs are going to pay much in this market and we know they try and take our players on loan or on the never never especially if we end up with too many players in a position as could happen at left back and CB

We know that RB have refused to pay the 20+ million yet suggesting we will get 25 million

I have not heard any rumours about anyone wanting Zinchenko

£15 million was cheap at the time and would perhaps be fair value now given Corona and the fact that he played better in the title winning season when the bid was right but I just do not think anyone will bid for him.

Big difference especially in this market between 15 million and 25 million heck there is a big difference in this market between the 20 million RB might pay they wont pay 20+ and the 25 suggested
 
I would guess we're looking to bring in Ake + a right-footed starter (Koulibaly?) to be honest. We've been playing Garcia out of necessity as much as anything and I can't imagine Pep is thrilled about that. It's clear that Stones/Otamendi are out of favor. Ake is HG so allows us to move on from Stones and bring in a foreign CB.

Chelsea will have excellent wingers next season, so he could be useful there. Even Arsenal have decent attacking players.

Whilst people are debating his aerial ability based on the stats quoted, they are for a centre back. He may be useful against teams that pump the ball forwards out wide.

Even if you don’t think he is top quality, not every player in a squad needs to be. We need more leaders with tenacity and desire. Players like Stones have ability in abundance, but ironically, he lacks the stones mentally to be a top player.

Ake is home grown and can play in different areas. He would be a welcome addition to the squad imho

Navas, Zinchenko, Delph, Clichy, Sagna, Demichelis (for 18 months or so at least), Caballero, Iheanacho. Don't think any of these were signed and expected to be immediate upgrades on what we already had

Ben White is on loan, but has been so good Brighton will definitely use him themselves next season or he'll be sold for a price Leeds can't afford.

Berradi is 31, out of contract, and just did his ACL.

2017/18/19 has no relevance to 2020/21.

You might as well say Yaya should still be in the side because of his 13/14.


I suppose you think Stones and Otamendi should be the starting CB pair next season then, given how much they played in the centurion season.
