Why do people have such a hard on for Stones? No way he's better than Ake. Is it just because he's English?

He's like a Porsche with engine problems. Looks great when it runs but unfortunately it's in the mechanic more often then not.

Think this would be a very good signing, and I’m incredibly critical of our defensive transfer business during the Pellegrini and Pep eras. At £35m, I’d say it’s a risk worth taking. Especially when you consider his versatility. He has bags of potential and would be an upgrade on Stones for me. But we still need to bring in a solid defender with some experience.

I just hope the club are not thinking that this is job done at left-back. We certainly need to bring in a competent player there to compete with Mendy.

Don’t know for the life of me why anybody rates him . Had his chance this season when Laporte got injured and blew it . With John stones in our defence no way are we winning the title

More than compete mate . We need a first choice left back because mendy is nowhere near the level we need .
 
I don't know why so many people are arguing about who's better between Stones and Ake. One is right footed and will play on the right side of defence, the other on the left. Garcia is Stones' competition who he can't get ahead of at the moment. We've had Ota and Dinho on the left side and Ake would be a much better option than either of those 2.

Ake could also probably be used as a more defensive LB like what Walker does. You just need Cancelo as the attacking FB on the other side.

Yes?? How can you be arguing this? He started half the games in the League, wasn't great, was a non-entity in the other competitions, and had injuries sprinkled in throughout. You're literally the only person that thinks Stones was a key player last season.

I agree with you although that goal line clearance against Liverpool was pretty amazing :D

The Sun (I know) are saying united and Chelsea are interested in Ake. I wonder do Chelsea still have a buyback clause?
