If they buy Harvetz in addition to the Ajax winger and the German striker, I am not sure they buy will be spender over £35m on a fullback.

Maybe raise cash by selling Kante (?)

They're definitely getting a LB, seems like Telles, Tagliafico and Robin Gosens are the ones they're being linked with. I don't know how much they'll cost though.

I think they'll sell Jorginho, Lampard dropped him for the Scottish kid until he got injured.

I wonder if we'll have second thoughts after tonight defensive performance about who we'll sign

Fair enough, forgot about him. Clearly not wanted.

Ake is a decent enough defender. The problem that he will have is that people will (rightly or wrongly) compare him to Kompany. But given time, playing/training alongside better players and under Pep's direction, he will undoubtedly improve as a player. So on that basis, I think he will represent good business if he comes to City?

Fortunately the City management team don't react with the same knee jerk reaction that fans do. They would have known months ago what profile player that needed moving out and the type of replacement needed. That is the same reason why fans on a board doesn't work as there are many facets to running a successful club.

We have to shift some of the dross out that we have before we buy any more dross that we wont be able to move in 2 years time. We need a top class central defender not a player who is a stand in, I'd rather keep Stones than spend good money after bad bringing in a bench warmer.

Not sure what any of that has to do with Ake, if we get Ake it isn't instead of moving players out and it isn't instead of bringing in atop class partner for Laporte. He's just a good back up better than what we have now that is home grown and left sided.

Again bud in all honesty I would prefer to keep Stones, I believe he has better attributes if he could get his bloody head screwed on.

I think the fact he plays for Bournemouth is clouding peoples judgement. I hope, in time, this comparison stands up but everyone wondered if VVD could step up after playing for celtic and Southampton, he didn't have any problems did he. I think we could have the same scenario if Acke signs for us.

Does signing Ake mean we are going to keep our deadwood? No, quite the opposite.

Is Ake better than Stones, Otamendi and Garcia (currently)? Yes, absolutely.

Does signing Ake mean we are not going to buy a first choice partner for Laporte? No, not at all.

So I’m not sure what your grievance is.

It's not a grievance it's an observation, do you work for HR bud ;) I honestly believe that Stones is a better player and will turn the corner, I don't believe from what I have seen of Ake that he can do any better.

The problem is there is no guarantee Stones will turn the corner, and I am sure that Pep has a better idea whether this is possible, over and above all of us on here. Otamendi is at the wrong end of the age scale, so will go, but I am sure that the club would not just dispense with Stones, if they could see a future for him, as he ticks a lot of boxes being home grown. But how long do they give him?

John Stones has had about 6-9 months (if that) where he was at the level we want him to be, over the 48 months he’s been here. He isn’t turning any corner. Not here. He needs something new.

I have no reason or evidence to dispute your claim other than a gut feeling, I have faith that he will come good when we call on him given the opportunities and support.
