Nathan Ake

Not sure about this, that fee was ridiculous and we'll never get anything close to it again.

He is 4th choice for a reason and we could've used that fee to bring in a real top CB. The question mark here is of course if a top CB would come without a guaranteed starting place but seeing how often we rotate I'm sure we could've convinced someone.

Anyway, he is still a good squad player but I feel Chelsea was giving us a way to upgrade.

For a lot of Chelsea fans, the idea of Ake back at Chelsea was nice. We all have fond memories of the 18 year old Rafa Benitez plucked out of the academy and threw into the Europa League lineups, mostly as a DM, and he was excellent. So the idea of Ake back in a Chelsea shirt was something a lot of people would have enjoyed - if we ignored the fee would likely have had to pay, and the collateral damage in Colwill.

Romano sent Chelsea twitter into a frenzy when he announced that Colwill is now likely to leave after the arrivals of Ake and Kimpempe. No-one wants to lose Colwill, and certainly not in favour of Ake or Kimpempe.

Anyway, for Ake, for City, and in my opinion definitely for Chelsea - him staying is the best move.

Happy either way. Let’s hope he can stay relatively injury free. He has improved and it keeps the back 4 stable. £50m would have been great business. Lb and we are done.

Good news, I didn’t want to sell Ake and he impressed when he played last season both at lb and cb. Now all we need is to keep Nathan fit.

Excellent news. I think this is the best for all parties concerned. As a Chelsea fan, I will always have a soft spot for Ake, and was buzzing for him when he got his move to City, but it made very little sense to pay the price City want for him for three main reasons.

1. He's too expensive and he likely would not command a starting spot for very long.
2. He would block Levi Colwill's pathway and he's simply not good enough to mess with Colwill's development for.
3. City would likely go out and buy a better defender, so we would be directly helping City improve. I saw links to Torres and Gvardiol.
So what you're saying is:

We didn't want him anyway.
