Ake would be club trained for Chelsea, should be worth more for them than other clubs. We should be charging them more. We are usually too nice in our transfer dealings.

Lots of cheap options out there that can perform at the same level if not higher, a player like Demiral could be decent here and could even push for a starting spot. I would love to see us go for Kimpembe but that would only happen if a huge bid comes in for Laporte.

I think we overpaid for him, but he’s got over a couple of problems and injuries and played as good a role as any of our defenders last season. Why we would now sell him, just as he’s got up to speed is puzzling. I can only think he’s asked to go, knowing the Chelsea interest, or Pep thinks 3 CBs is enough with the signing of Phillips. Now we need to sign a replacement. Not Pau Torres who is the next Isco or Joao Felix, but someone versatile. I mean Gvardiol, L.Hernandez, Lisandro Martinez, Hermoso, someone in that profile.

Really sorry to see him go. I was really keen for City to sign him and although we havent seen the best of him, last season was much more promising from him and was hoping he'd kick on this year.
Having said that, from a club perspective if we get £50 million for him, then it's probably a good deal all round.

Atletico wants to sell Mario Hermoso who is a similar fit to Ake. But IMO Gvardiol or Lisandro Martinez would be a nice fit.Can only think they must have offered ~£50m.
We can get a decent backup centre back for less than that.
