Nathan Ake

Sometimes I have a gut feeling that we would sell everyone from this team and some people would be happy with their "give kids a chance".
We're talking about replacing a 4th choice defender.
That's why he's leaving in the first place because he wants to play.

So all the names you've mentioned will be happy to sit behind Dias, Stones and Laporte then? Because if they are all fit, your choices ain't playing!

Guaranteed more game time at Chelsea but will be in the same situation in a seasons time. Anyway I wish Ake well and we have got a good fee and his wife is probably happy moving back to London.
They play with 3 centre halves, so he should get more game time whilst Tuchel is still there.

He's been decent for us and I'm sure we'll make a small profit on him. I'd rather he stayed, but in all fairness he probably wants to play so I'll shake his hand and wish him all the best. At the end of the day, he's nowhere near the class of Stones and Dias and probably is behind Laporte, although I think Ake had a better season than him overall.

I must admit, if I was a Chelsea fan I think I'd be underwhelmed with him and Sterling coming in. They are good players, but they are likely to spend £100m on 2 players who are good but if both played against us I'd be reasonably happy.

At the end of the day if we lose Ake, Sterling and Jesus and bring in Haaland, Phillips and Cucurella for - give or take - the same money, it's been an insanely good window.

Bizarrely this would be the outgoing this summer that would annoy me the most.

He really kicked on in the 2nd half of last season with some outstanding performances in the run in when we had Dias, stones & Laporte out at various points.

If Ake goes a replacement needs to be brought in, all 3 of our other centre half’s have an injury in them so it’s be too much of a risk to try and go through a gruelling season with no 4th choice back up.

We gotta prepare for the situation where the replacement is a probably older and a much lesser player than Aké is... sadly.

Ake is a v good player who would get even better given the opportunity to play more. It will be a pity if he goes.

Also, if we lose 4 players from this squad it risks undermining the teams ability to optimise cohesion and the performance level we need to attain and also improve on last season.

Changing too many players I feel is like a scientific experiment- you change 1or2things at a time, or risk failing.
