Nathan Ake

Kounde would be the perfect move IMO as he has the recovery pace our other defenders (bar Walker) lack, and can also play as a right back.

Would free up Cancelo to play further up the pitch, which I imagine we'll do at times if we don't replace Sterling.

Hopefully we tie up the Cucurella deal quickly, we are almost at the beginning of the pre season and we have 4-5 new players coming in who are replacing our tried and tested well oiled machine. Replacing Ake will be very important can't go into a season where their is World Cup in the middle of the season with 3 senior CBs.

Losing ake further weakens our already awful depth at lb. Losing ake is not the end of the world but we must sign a lb at the very least. Think we could cope with 3 cbs next season at a push with cover from Walker, rodri, Phillips etc but cucurella is a must imo
I dont disagree about the need for a left back. We have been understrength in this position for years and I hope that if Ake does go we use those funds to fix the issue.

i think we need 4 centre backs but there is no reason why those players can’t play in two positions, eg Ruben and Stones at right back and Laporte at left back. If they want playing time they may just have to adapt a bit.

I really like Ake but the guy couldn’t stay healthy here. When he played I was impressed, especially towards the last half of last season, but when we needed him most at the end of the season, he wasn’t fit and we struggled with Fernandinho.
It’s obviously more difficult to be or become a “first choice” CB if injuries are prevalent.

City and the new owners at Chelsea seem to have developed a professional relationship. I wonder a few Chelsea players would go the other way.

I'm not going to argue if we get a fair price but I do wonder why these deals are taking this long, when City have been more than reasonable with their valuations.

Sterling would be a bargain for £45m+ up to £10m addons, that should be out of the way by now, since I thought they had agreed terms with the player already.

What City want for Ake seems to have changed from £50m(which is very reasonable) to between £40-45m(it better be £41m+ which is break even for what we paid a relegated club, which would be seen as a favour to the player for me). Yet there are reports that the two clubs are "some way apart in their valuations". I seriously hope they don't think City should take a net loss on a player that has plenty of years left on his contract, who has improved since arriving at the club and City would be more than happy to keep. Hopefully that's just more of the typical press transfer BS.

Looks like we are already looking for replacements for Ake. I’m expecting this deal to go through. Personal terms between Ake and Chelsea have been agreed , City are awaiting bid of around £40/45m.

Been a good player for us , rarely put a foot wrong. Hopefully we can replace him with someone of his calibre, let Txiki work his magic.

Not a bad shout but I’m not sure if he’d want to come and be 4th choice when he’s playing every week.
Tosin is a local lad so can be closer to home. He will increase his wages and will have a better chance with the England team whilst being in our squad. Ake is regular for his NT despite being 4th choice for us. He will also improve as a player training with us and being coached by the greatest manager out there.

Chelsea are seemingly also quite serious about Raphinha and Ronaldo.

It's hard to see them buying those two and Sterling, so maybe they are leveraging the fact it's our last chance to get a fee for Sterling to lower the total package.
Please lord let Chelsea acquire Ronaldo.

That would be 2 of the “Big Six” he would ruin, and in consecutive years no less.
