Navas

Put him in Bayern's team yesterday and he would have run us ragged with the space and freedom on the wing.

He looked very good in our last league game at Etihad, but he was up against distinctly average opponents.

He doesn't seem to have the courage or conviction to take on a full-back and try to beat him and put a cross in.

Still, as with all our new signings, it's early days and hopefully, things will improve.
He was up against the best left back in the game. And was the only outlet for the team. He got a few crosses in and was the only way we looked like creating anything

Every single City player came off 2nd best against their opponent

If you ask me which City player looked capable of causing a problem for Bayern I would say Navas and Negredo. Negredo put a shift in when he came on, but as a sub you can do that. Would he do that from the start?

I wasn't talking specifically about last night; I meant in general, aperture from against the rags and barcodes, he has looked mediocre.

he wont last 5 mins...home sick and all that crap..
limited ability and mentally not strong enough...sorry

He hasnt even played 10 games for the club yet. Give him time.

The worry for me is that I don't recall him beating a full back (not just getting half a yard and getting the cross in) in any of the ten or so games he has played in. And that's against Hull and Cardiff, not Bayern.

I'm not sure this "electric pace" is there either. A really fast, decent player will consistently beat his based on his pace alone when he is in some of the positions Navas gets into. Navas shows no sign of that.

No doubt a good player but I thought he must have changed his game from the player I'd see quite a bit of earlier in his career when people were billing him as someone who would fly down the wing and terrify full backs. A cruel assessment would be that he is a poor man's Silva, with a bit more pace.

The most valuable attribute in the game is a player who can take players out of the game and of a set defence by getting past them. Navas does not have that attribute and I hope that he wasn't bought with that in mind.

Last night you'll find he was up against the worlds best lb, whos also a rocket but he was also being doubled up on d whole time

World's best left back? Knee jerk or what?

And anyway, regardless:

I wouldn't have minded him going past Elmohamady or Andrew Taylor once in 180 minutes.

I'm not writing the bloke off but the phrase "flattered to deceive" sums up his contributions so far and I'm concerned that he has been bought to do a job that isn't his game - which wouldn't really be his fault. He is playing in a style with positioning where he is often isolated against the full back. Yet he doesn't seem equipped (and never has done in the past from what I've seen) to exploit that to the full. He is more comfortable in tight spaces imo. And that isn't what City needed or what most people assumed he was being bought for. Plenty of time to prove all the above nonsense though.

Was our main threat yesterday but had no options. Richards never really helped him which was disappointing.

He's not homesick at all. This is basically "I've read the papers and made my mind up from those stories" thinking.

Not half as much as Robben and Ribery did though!

I think he's done ok so far, and it's obviously too early to judge properly. That said, I didn't really want him in the summer - from what I've seen of him previously and this season, he looks too one-dimensional, no threat coming inside, just an up-and-down speed merchant. I thought we would have been better going for a quick wide forward who can play either side and carries a goal threat (someone like Robben). Not saying he can't or won't be effective, but I'd probably look to use him more as an impact player than a regular starter - far rather we looked to build our attack around Aguero/Negredo, plus Silva, Nasri, Jovetic.
