Very happy about this. I have Optimum with Cablevision and I just checked that I have the NBC Sports channel. Happy Days! Wonder what Fox Soccer is going to fill their Saturday and Sunday mornings air time with?
Fox Soccer is done, they're eliminating that channel. They're making a new sports channel titled "Fox Sports 1" that is launching pretty soon. They still have the US rights to the FA Cup and Champions League, but I'm fairly certain NBC will not be subsidizing any packages to Fox (like what Fox did with ESPN the past few seasons). There's talk that maybe Fox an pick up the Bundesliga rights, but that won't be this season.

Excellent thread Impeccable One. I have been trying to figure out all this on my own, and this thread has answered most of my questions. I still have a couple though, and with this in mind, I have the DiSH Network, with NBC, NBC Sports, CNBC, and Telemundo/MUN 2 all part of my package. so here goes:
1. Is the EXTRA TIME channel/package on a completely different channel on DISH, or is it incorporated into the existing channels that I already have? It seems that there will be a lot of games on EXTRA TIME, and if City is going to be playing some/many games on here, I want to make sure I have access to them.
I've found this, has a lot of good info:
As for the EPL side of things, note that channel assignments have not been made yet for the 10:00 a.m. Saturday games, because there are so many to pick from. NBC Sports Network will have one every week, and the rest will air on NBC's "Premier League Extra Time" overflow channels. All games, regardless of channel, will be televised in high definition. mun2, Telemundo's sister cable channel, will also air some 10:00 games in Spanish. Those selections also have not been determined yet.
In addition to the television broadcasts, all games will be streamed online free of charge. Authentication will be required through participating cable and satellite providers.
I've been asked by a lot of people for details on which cable and satellite providers will be paritcipating.
According to NBC, the following major providers had signed up as of July 29: Extra Time television channels: Comcast Xfinity, DirecTV, Dish Network, Cablevision Optimum, AT&T U-verse, Suddenlink
Online streaming: Comcast Xfinity TV, DirecTV, Dish Network, Verizon FiOS, Cox, Cablevision Optimum, AT&T U-verse, Suddenlink

2. I am assuming that NBC Sports LIVE EXTRA is only for desktop, mobile phones, and tablets as was explained on an earlier post, and all that has to be done is download the app to your device. This is not something that is part of your cable provider that could be seen on TV (unless you have some wireless connection set-up from your computer to your TV). Correct?
It sounds pretty similar to what the Fox Soccer 2 Go was, except this sounds a lot better. You'll need an app on an iPad or phone, but online you can probably just login like you would with ESPN3 and watch a stream without downloading a computer program (probably).
3. I noticed on the NBCS guide for games scheduled to be showed, it lists the channel that it will be show on as TBS. does this mean they do not know which channel it will be shown on yet? I'm concerned that I may miss quite a few City games (I really do not want to have to watch the games on the computer or IPad; they are a little blurry) on my TV.
Yes, as mentioned above, for all the 3pm/10am est/7am pst kickoffs that have multiple games they haven't been announced yet.
I have been able to catch almost every City game on Fox Soccer, Fox Soccer Plus, ESPN 2 or
ESPN Deportes/Telemundo, and I'm hoping I can at least get the same coverage for my beloved City team here from my hometown of Los Angeles. thanks for any info anyone can post on this.
This will be better. The coverage will be unparalleled. Unfortunately my carrier (Verizon) doesn't have the overflow channels yet, but there are ways to connect the laptop to the TV and put the streams on the TV.
