Different sport but still Philadelphia. I was at a computer conference in the late 1990s and one of the American conference organisers was a "big wig" in the Phillies baseball team management. A dozen of us were escorted into the ground, met some players and were given heaps of memorabilia. Didn't understand too much of the game but it was great entertainment - especially the fans. When the Philadelphia eagles built their stadium in 2002, with 100% government money they also offered PSL's to season ticket holders in the lower level. I purchased two (my #of seats) for $1,795 per seat. The next year my ex-wife initiated divorce proceedings.
I accepted the divorce with no stipulations, she got everything except my dog, my car and my Eagles season tickets (in my family since 1958). The judge decreed that I could visit the dog during the child visitation, awarded me my car, and gave her the season tickets. Over the last 20 years or so, I would receive pictures on my phone of her and her new man enjoying themselves at Eagles games.
June 1st I sold the PSL's to a friend much younger than I for $48,000 for the pair. With the sale he now has the option to purchase the seats, which he did. Yesterday I saw him at a charity function where he gifted me the seats for the home opener. I plan on taking a 28 year old bartender and previous Miss Philadelphia to the game....... can't wait to send the ex-wife some pictures.
Karma, it's a woman.
Not very often that someone pays compliments to the fans of Philadelphia sports, we have a reputation that usually doesn't flatter us. Thanks kiwiDifferent sport but still Philadelphia. Tbh when you can buy a franchise and move it to the other side of the country I do t think the NFL give a flying fuck about fans. How do fans of NFL view their games being played at Wembley or Spurs? Don't know any match going fans of the Tampa Bucs to ask!
Pretty fair observation, Maverick. Football ownership worldwide seems to be rather similar in that respect.Tbh when you can buy a franchise and move it to the other side of the country I do t think the NFL give a flying fuck about fans.
Sadly true these days mate, we are customers not fans.Pretty fair observation, Maverick. Football ownership worldwide seems to be rather similar in that respect.
I'm reminded of the time several years ago where a gentleman was forced to resign his position with Augusta National because he called the people attending the Master's tournament fans and not "patrons".Sadly true these days mate, we are customers not fans.
Why didn't you sell the PSL's to a friend 19 years ago, who then took up the option to buy the season tickets - and immediately sold you back the PSL and season tickets? When the Philadelphia eagles built their stadium in 2002, with 100% government money they also offered PSL's to season ticket holders in the lower level. I waited because deep in my heart I'm a devious bastard and knew the PSL's would increase in value and were overlooked in the divorce proceedings. I ran into my ex-wife's man at a Christmas party last year, who was mocking the fact that I had lost the season tickets to her. The PSL's have appreciated enormously and his mocking me was the catalyst for making me cash in on them. Why didn't you sell the PSL's to a friend 19 years ago, who then took up the option to buy the season tickets - and immediately sold you back the PSL and season tickets?
Oh and post the pics of the bartender and former Miss Philly on here too ;)
Yes I meant the picture of you in the stadium!I waited because deep in my heart I'm a devious bastard and knew the PSL's would increase in value and were overlooked in the divorce proceedings. The sweetest revenge will be when I run into the two of them at the pub while watching the Eagles play a home game while they are at the pub rather than at the stadium.
No pictures of my friend and I until we attend the game. First pictures go to HER phone, second to HIS phone, then to Bluemoon.
