NDJ is gone ?

Even with Tevez firing, Vinnie playing so well, Silva getting the hang of the prem and Yaya doing what he does, NDJ has been by far my favourite player over the 2 years before this season started! Yes i accept he has looked poor(compared to his standards) this year, but we have changed our style of play. U don't go from being possibly the best player in the world at a certain position to an average bench warmer! He needs to change his style slightly and once again will be a regular starter!

NDJ is the perfect squad player to have.

Thing is the words 'squad player' won't appeal to him.

Would be absolutely gutted if he left, but i wouldn't question his decision to leave if he did.

It was an ankle injury and Johnson hasn't been the same since his ankle injury last season either. Johnson looks slower than he used to and I thought he would have recovered the lost yard of pace now but hasn't. De Jong seems to lack the same "bite" he had, nothing to do with our system but either the injury, his confidence, or a combination of both.

If he is leaving then it will mean we are bringing in a replacement who is better suited to our style of football.
Unfortunately for DJ he has suffered more than most because he is a one trick pony,a very good one,but none the less he doesn't have the strings to his bow that makes him a fluid part of an adaptable, interchanging midfield.
DJ is a destroyer,he breaks play and does the simple things well, unfortunately this isn't enough in our team anymore, that single job very rarely presents itself,we need a player who can do that as well as spark an attack, ping a ball 40 yds to a team mate and weigh in with a few goals each season.
He also lacks pace and height and quite often loses his man when they sprint into our box as his athleticism is limited. Also, unlike last season,i'm not even sure i'd back him to win every single 50/50 challenge anymore,he seems to have lost his edge for whatever reason.

I will be forever grateful to Nige,a warrior and a true professional who has played a large part in propelling us to where we are, but, unfortunately,i think we have moved forward without him and in fairness he is far too good to sit on anyones bench for 75% of a season.....I expect a replacement is in the pipeline.....

of all the players I thought would put his foot in at all costs it was NDJ.

but what happened? he ducked out for Welbeck's goal.

Been dissappointed in him this season, looks a shadow of the real De Jong in all honesty.

JMW. Me ol chum me ol pal. There was me thinking you and I are always at odds ends. Most logical reply I have read so far. Is it just you and I who thought why didn't he stick a foot/head/bollock/hand in right as the Longsight Legend was about to crack that? Sure seems to me as if he had ample time to stick something out there. Bet your fucking kitchen sink had it been Vinny or Micah standing in that spot (hey...you're there...do something) somehow Danny wouldn't have got his foot on that! Or...are we being harsh?

I bowed out, yet I am OP (wooooooooo big fuckin deal) and I feel it necessary to have a jump right back in and have a gander...

Stay or go, this is now the new NDJ thread...? Love him, BUT.......... ... ...

He was one of the last players off the pitch, as he always is. He stayed around the middle of the pitch and clapped and bowed to all areas of the ground, as he always does. Nothing in it at all.

This is correct.

He didn't have a good first half but my god did he switch it on for the second. I think Mancini told him to stop overthinking and worry about sliding in because he was back to his best, sliding in with crunching tackles, winning us the ball and fighting for every second of the second half.
