NDJ is gone ?

If he is leaving then it will mean we are bringing in a replacement who is better suited to our style of football.
Unfortunately for DJ he has suffered more than most because he is a one trick pony,a very good one,but none the less he doesn't have the strings to his bow that makes him a fluid part of an adaptable, interchanging midfield.
DJ is a destroyer,he breaks play and does the simple things well, unfortunately this isn't enough in our team anymore, that single job very rarely presents itself,we need a player who can do that as well as spark an attack, ping a ball 40 yds to a team mate and weigh in with a few goals each season.
He also lacks pace and height and quite often loses his man when they sprint into our box as his athleticism is limited. Also, unlike last season,i'm not even sure i'd back him to win every single 50/50 challenge anymore,he seems to have lost his edge for whatever reason.

I will be forever grateful to Nige,a warrior and a true professional who has played a large part in propelling us to where we are, but, unfortunately,i think we have moved forward without him and in fairness he is far too good to sit on anyones bench for 75% of a season.....I expect a replacement is in the pipeline.....

Your post summed it up cogently. Thats what I have been suggesting eversince I reviewed his performance two seasons ago when Everton beat us which pissed me mightily. Next to the rags they are the the worst bunch to lose to. You can understand why.

It would be helpful if you can review my 'Anatomy of Hughes' 7 draws' which I posted here in this great forum, perhaps not in its entirety.

of all the players I thought would put his foot in at all costs it was NDJ.

but what happened? he ducked out for Welbeck's goal.

Been dissappointed in him this season, looks a shadow of the real De Jong in all honesty.

Considering what had happened to Kompany not long before I'm not surprised he was a bit wary about doing anything that Foy might have seen as a sending off offence.

As far as the original post - he waved and did the two handed praise be to allah thing to a set of fans that never gave up all through the second half, that stayed after the final whistle and cheered their team as though we'd won. He was as proud of us as we were of our team. I don't think it was anything more than that.

maybe, I just think he could have got there and clearly ducked out, cost us a vital goal in the end and it was just a bit dissappointing.

never mind though, we live and learn, he'll have responsibility over the next few weeks and the chance to prove why he should be playing week in, week out. Let's hope he takes it.

The only way he could have stopped Welbecks shot was to show his studs & because of what had just gone on with that tosser of a ref it put doubt in his mind.

I've seen NDJ do the bow and waves like that plenty of times at the end of matches. I'd be astonished if he leaves this window with Yaya away. Very possibly in the summer I suppose (which would be a great shame imo) unless he can win his regular place back over the next few weeks. Thought he was excellent in the 2nd half yesterday.

Nigel applauds the fans more than any other player every time he plays. He always bows down to the Singing Section and did the same yesterday but to all three sides to show his appreciation for our support in the second half yesterday. He didn't collect any turf!

well.... i don't believe it until we have proof.

if it's true then i trust mancini 100% so if he wants to let him go then so be it.

Nige has had to take a back seat lately. His creative talents are not first pick for Mancini. He is world class if yer creators are firing on all cylinders but if yer want summat adding to the whole we have more creative players than Nige. I think Joleoninho is another who frustrates Mancini. Great defender but not comfortable or talented on the ball. Seems to want to shift it as soon as he gets it. Great partner for Kompany, and my preference over Kolo, fantastic at attacking one of our corners, but not a ball playing CB in the mold of Dave Ewing or Franco Baresi!

Nige wants to play and would get in every other PL team. Fancy the continent beckons if he can swallow a pay cut!

He clapped all 4 stands as he always does, paying particular attention to the East Stand, as his family have a box directly behind me, which Aguero's brother is often in too.
