Negredo allegedly signed

All I want to know is, does he track back? Can he run 100m under 10 seconds? Who cares about the goals he scored playing in an average team.

There’s an awful lot of ignoring the forest for the trees on here.

I prefer to think of our transfers rather more simply.

Last year, I believe our biggest failing was our one-dimensional attack – the “one more pass” approach, as some have called it. Dink the ball around the box until someone made a magical cut and we’d score. Sometimes.

Problem was, even mediocre sides packed the box against us, and frustrated this approach.

What about now? Sure, we can still play the way we did with Silva and Aguero, but with more width and pace in Navas, now we can cross the ball in, with target guys to score. With Fernandinho holding, it seems to me Yaya can move forward and bull rush down the middle more often. In addition, Negredo gives us a better ability to lump it over the top of defense as well. And I have to believe our long set pieces (including corners) will improve with Negredo, and Rodwell too, assuming he’s fit and plays periodically.

Seems to me we’ve added substantial flexibility in attack with these signings. Ergo, we’ve – at least on paper – solved our biggest problem.

Not only that, but the PL’s best defense has lost no one of consequence either.

I’m just confused as to how an objective City fan can’t be excited about who we’ve signed and – more important – WHY we’ve signed them.
Great post.

Isn't it just.

Spot on, exactly how I feel, One more Striker (Zlatan Ibrahimovic please!) and we will have a world beating team, back to front, with various options.

Absolutely, and having Guidetti in the team makes me want his national team mate even more.

Great post.

Could not agree more - this signings acquired so far have what we needed to address on last seasons problems. I cannot wait for the new season and think we will perform better than our title winning season.

add to the fact that we seem to have tied up Jovetic finally as well...happy days : )

People saying we should've signed Ibra don't understand what's going on at City and what we're trying to achieve.
I fully understand, I just don't agree with it. We're not Barcelona, and they can't turn us into Barcelona no matter how hard they try.

This line I actually agree with. While Txiki and Ferran were successful at Barcelona, it was because they were able to build around a theme (Catalan culture) for the team to unite around. Same thing with the Bayern/Dortmund combination playing on the German pride. I don't see what the catalyst will be for the team to unite and build around.
