Negredo

It'll be precautionary. He'll take no part in the Watford FA Cup game but I would imagine he'll be available for the Spurs game in a weeks time. If it was particularly serious there's no way he'd have stayed on the pitch last night, we'd have seen the game out with 10 players and got him off sharpish.
Do you not think though that Negredo is the kind of guy that would say he's fine and try to not show weakness? I just think he's that type, like Zaba. I don't think him playing on necessarily means it's not serious. I mean... when he was jogging/running he couldn't even move his arm.

This is why i wanted 11 changes. We were 6-0 up against a woeful team. He should not have played. I was fine with Aguero starting as he needs the game time, but Negredo, Fernandinho and Navas should not have been in the squad. This is fucking annoying.

What if Aguerro was injured during the game?

Injuries can happen to anybody anytime and often are not correlated to how much game time you play over a given period of time.

We don't want them to occur and we have had our fair share but they do and all you can do is manage them as best is practical using the best of sports medicine / sciience in an effort to minimise them.

Negredo could have suffered the same injury against Spurs next Wednesday or Watford on Saturday had Dzeko played last night.

He shouldn't have stayed on the pitch anyway. He's in pain, we're 9-0 up on aggregate with ten minutes of the match to go - Send him straight down the tunnel for immediate treatment.

This will be infuriating if he misses Spurs or Chelsea. A complete dead rubber of a match we're cruising in - lose our seasons top goal scorer. We've dealt with injuries really well so far but we need a run of luck for a bit, no team can suffer them constantly to seemingly every important player in the squad. Aguero, Silva, Nasri, Yaya was out albiet briefly, Kompany, now Negredo? It's ridiculous. That's before you consider Jovetic and Rodwell!

Think its precautionary and is more bruising/nerve damage than something major...

should be good in a week or 2...

(here's to hoping!)

Just wondering ... Negredo went to training in a sling... can understand the sling being precautionary measure but surely if the damage was bad to his shoulder and he was due to be out for a few weeks, why the f**k would Pellegrini tell him to report to training the day after a game in London ...?

Surely, Pellegrini would tell Negredo to rest today if he knew he was out for a while... as there is not point of coming in to train straight after a trip to London...

Personally, at a guess, and looking at the fact he does not look distraught in the picture, he is out for Watford game and maybe an outside chance for Spurs game ... should be good for our Chelsea home game though!

I think that is a reasonable conclusion to draw.

If it was a broken collarbone, dislocated collarbone , shoulder blade , ac joint done etc we would know about it by now.

I'm with the manager on team selection - keep momentum, keep the forwards scoring and keep winning games. Injuries are part and parcel of the game. I'm sure Edin will step up again if required and in a couple of weeks Negredo will be back, rested and ready to go again.

Agreed - injuries ARE part and parcel of the game and can happen at any moment but there are clear moments when you do NOT take nor NEED to take unnecessary risks. The same happened with Zab v Leicester but keeping Alf on the pitch was ridiculous. It´s common fookin sense is it not?

Totally agree, i couldn't believe the shit i was getting on twitter for questioning his inclusion on a match that we were 6 nil up in

It would have been worse if carroll had been on for the 2nd half, as he was starting to get pissed off and going in hard

I understand the winning mentality etc, but mentally our players were already through anyway
