Neil Young

Class is permanent.

Not a big fan of the Bobster but no collection is complete without some choice Dylan.

I'm partial to a bit of Young's music, got 20 odd cd's by him so far from the complete set. This latest release sounds like it needs to be on my wish list. young deserves kudos just for having the most wonderful grungy guitar sound ever heard. Very good live too.
I feel the same I love about 3 Dylan albums. But not keen on the rest.

One of my favourite artists and has been for a long time. Not kept up with his stuff much over the last few years though, for no good reason really. The last album I got was Psychedelic Pill, which I thought was excellent and I’m shocked to learn that it’s 8 years old already! Was listening to Ragged Glory just this morning as it happens.

Can you imagine having such a back catalogue of music to just be able to release am unknown (certainly to me anyways) from 1974?

Pretty remarkable especially in this day and age.........

He has a number of other albums from that period that were recorded but never released. Off the top of my head I think they are:

Homefires (from 1974)
Oceanside Countryside (c.1976 or 1977)
Chrome Dreams (1977)

Most of the songs ended up on other albums (sometimes decades later) but there are one or two that haven't appeared officially anywhere.

There's also a Crazy Horse collaboration from the early 2000s called Toast that never got released.

He has a wry sense of humour because back in 2007 he released an album called Chrome Dreams 2 which had all recently written songs. He said he was bored of fans asking if the original Chrome Dreams was ever going to be released, but they could have CD2 instead.

What a position to be in - I really like how a lot of his music / releases etc are affected by his life events.

I think it's the start of his book where he is articulating how he is off weed for the first time in however and is unable to write any more music (probably as prolific a song writer as I can think of). A small insight into what it must be like to be a mere mortal for him.........

No not the City player, the Canadian one.
Any fans ?
He's just released his 1974 album Homegrown.
He recorded it just after On The Beach. But never released it till now.
Really nice laid back introspective songs like it's predecessor.
Recommended for fans of his.

Love him, cheers for flagging this up, will seek it out.

My favourite is his first one, self titled. But On The Beach is probably 2nd, I can really get lost in that album.
After The Goldrush probably 3rd.

On The Beach
Tonight's The Night
After The Goldrush
American Stars n Bars and Zuma.

Although it's hard to say a favourite as those 5 are amazing
