Nothing against the fella and hope he RIP.

But cue the Bone/save the children for baby Jesus freaks organising a concert for Cat AIDS in memory of his throwing off his mortal coil.

Bono and Sir Bob (He's not skint now) Geldoff are probably on the phone to the vatican to organise a photo shoot with the strange man in a frock.
Sorry dude you were outed as a right wing nutjob. Start slagging him off.

If for whatever reason you don't like Mandela, then simply don't post in an RIP thread, its really not difficult.

Anyone who does is obviously being an arsehole and looking to cause an argument.

RIP Mandela.

Rubbish.

When someone as influential as Nelson Mandela dies it is absolutely the right time to review his life, good or bad.

All those that are saying posters on here shouldn't post negative things about Mandela are probably the same loons that rejoiced in the death of Margaret Thatcher, RIP to both.

You want me to revert to stereotype ;-)

And I was doing so well to hide my meine kampf leanings.

Thousands are said to be gathering outside Nelson Mandela's house.

Police in Peckham are on a high state of alert.

Important guy and all that but BBC1, BBC2 and ITV suspend all programmes for eulogies!
Bloody hell!

The man was central to a huge upheaval in a country governed by an oppressive, white supremacist minority, in our lifetimes - he was a worldwide figure, loved for what he represented when he left that jail cell, and loved for what he preached - ideals yes, but that's what galvanises people the world over - he was a hero to many for that period of his life.
Yes he was a freedom fighter with all that entails, but there was a 20 year gap between that and his freedom from jail, so he was obviously able to spend the time incarcerated to contemplate the best means to the end of apartheid, and those are the thoughts and sentiments that have brought him almost god like status to many.
I'm not expressing myself very well here, but suffice to say he is a major historical figure to those of my age certainly, and I'll doff my cap to him on his way to wherever heroes and terrorists go in the end.

A 20 year gap where he still ran the ANC, where his missus carried out his good work for him and a 20 year gap where, if we are really being truthful, the world pressurised South Africa and Le Klerk in particular to get rid of aparthied. We might take the piss all we want out of the "Free Nelson Mandela" song but it opened the worlds minds to the South African regime.

Can we all at least agree that he had impeccable taste in shirts?

Some dodgy looking mates though.

One day, far into the future, his autograph book is going to fetch a fortune at auction.

He's got Beckham as well you know, and Richard Dunne.
