Hold on there a minute.

War had been declared by the participating nation states.

Whether you agree or not isn't relevant. The world agreed to the rules and dictates of the time. This is the fundamental difference between war and terrorism. Global opinion.
Fair enough. But the ANC were never going to be given such recognition for their struggle and to suggest they should just sit by and wait for it is ludicrous. I repeat, their struggle was equally as justified to the people directly affected by it as any conflict that has happened in Europe and been 'officially sanctioned' by other Western powers.

Transpose ANC and IRA and confirm you still agree please.
No, because to suggest the two are interchangeable is disingenuous. There were certain similarities, but some very fundamental differences that render any comparison meaningless.

Would you like to tell me the fundamental difference?

Don't you normally throw in a "wibble" round about now in a thread undies :)
''WIBBLE''

A shouty wibble, we are honoured tonight :)
Theres not really much to wibble at tonight just some old geezer who liked blowing people up has snuffed it, sooner his family lay him to rest the better then the circus can move on

Did Nelson Mandela affect the lives of anyone in this thread ? He certainly affected mine.
My niece married a white south African who originally came here when Mandela came to power. He came because he lost his university place because of new rules about quotas that Mandela brought in.
When he split up with my niece he borrowed £200 from me and he fucked off back to South Africa without paying me back.
So indirectly Mandela cost me £200, the ****.

Was it that members of the IRA were still allowed to take part in the democratic process ?
