Ban, you're not exactly doing much for the debate team yourself, so rein in the insults, Gringo.

Two wrongs don't make a right.
And anyway we were at war with a country who were trying to take over the world, they bombed our cities and us them.
It wasn't terrorist behaviour targeting people we knew were just catching a bus. We had to stop Germany as a country.
Completely different and you're being an idiot.

Even talkshite are all over it. They've wheeled out Stan Collymore to eulogise about him.
Stan Collymore ffs.
I half expected to see his picture at the top of the page instead of Sergio when I logged on.
He spoke very well and focused on what Mandela did for sport in SA , good listen
Fair enough. But the ANC were never going to be given such recognition for their struggle and to suggest they should just sit by and wait for it is ludicrous. I repeat, their struggle was equally as justified to the people directly affected by it as any conflict that has happened in Europe and been 'officially sanctioned' by other Western powers.Gelsons Dad said:Dubai Blue said:Wrong. The war on Iraq was never sanctioned by the UN.BimboBob said:Personal opinions aside, the "War on Terrorism" was sanctioned by the UN. They are the world's police. So therefore "Officially sanctioned". Horrible I know but that's it.
Either way, why should any unelected body have any right to justify the indiscriminate killing of innocents in a foreign land?
The idea that the bombing of Dresden (for example) was justified purely because it was 'officially sanctioned' by the leader of a foreign country has to be so beyond the comprehension of any right-thinking person. That goes for any idea of war being 'officially sanctioned'. What a stupid fucking turn of phrase.
Hold on there a minute.
War had been declared by the participating nation states.
Whether you agree or not isn't relevant. The world agreed to the rules and dictates of the time. This is the fundamental difference between war and terrorism. Global opinion.

You're making it up as you go along.
The ANC's struggle was every bit as justified to the people directly affected as Britain's war against Nazi Germany.
In the eyes of the World, yes.

Actually the Germans didn't bother with that declaring war rubbish ( well if you discount the U.S.A.) they just sort of went in bombing what and where they pleased, and until the started mass raids on the U.K. we had pretty much played by the rules and did our best to attack military targets but after the Blitz it untied our hands they sowed the wind the reaped the whirlwind. Had they had the capability the U.K would have suffered much worse and the German people of the time wouldn't have batted an eyelid.Gelsons Dad said:Dubai Blue said:Wrong.
